what are you doing to prepare for the start of school??

school starts may 12 for me....

i am moving, taking cpr, making sure all of my shots are up to date, buying stuff (but restraining myself from buying too much) and running around like a chicken with my head cut off all in excited/anxious anticipation at the start of school!

what are you doing? Just wanted to do a fun thread...maybe it will give me ideas on things i need to do, lol :)

I am crossing days off the calendar until 1) I give my notice at work 5/2 and 2) have my last day of work 5/23

I just took my CRP cert this weekend and have my physical in 2 weeks. I need to order my uniform and start shelling out the big bucks for books.

I am so excited. This has been in progress for me for the last 9 months and I am so happy the time to go to school ft is finally (well, almost) here!

Aside from practical stuff of the school's to do list, I am working on building some exercise back into my days. I know school is going to be really stressful, and I know nursing is very physical so I want to be in good shape. Plus, I feel like a load and just turned 40 so I want to nip this weight gain and sedentary lifestyle in the bud!

I am also cleaning cabinets and closets so I feel like my house is in good order while I have the time. Also to prevent the procrastinator in me from saying that I absolutely have to organize the linen closet before study/project/hw -- I hate to clean but that's a classic diversion for me!

My school starts August 18th. I just registered for classes today. I am trying to figure out everything I need to do before August. I need to go to the Dr. and get shots, etc. I want to buy supplies for school. I don't know what I need though.

good idea on starting exercising! I didn't even think of that. maybe if i get a fitness plan in place now....

Well I start May 19th :yeah: so I have orientation this week. I am also trying to add some exercise in, get the "office"/guest bedroom in order so I have a nice relaxing place to study. I am going to be off for a week before school starts so I am going to try to stock the freezer with some meals and get a bunch of warm weather recipes together so I have "go to" dinners and plans for dinners.

Hmm..lemmie see... Doing the crazy dance, feeling nervous, not feeling nervous, going crazy, not going crazy, reading chapter after chapter and......((((sigh)))!!!

I rec'd my acceptance letter 2 wks ago (2 days before my birthday), and I am absolutely going crazy. I am excited AND nervous! I can't wait to get started. WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO :yeah:

Haha, I wish I had time to prepare for nursing school...but I don't..for now. I also start on May 12th in an accelerated BSN program...but I'm finishing up pre-requisites now. My last final is on May 7th at nighttime, and then orientation is the following day for NS. My last day at my job is this Friday (the 2nd)...but I've got a lot to do between now and then! I have a BIG research paper due in Bioethics, plus presentation, a test in Nutrition this week, and on top of all that, since it's my last week at work (I am a Kindergarten teaching assistant), I'm trying to get in some quality time with each child to help them understand why I'm leaving before they "graduate"! :( I'll be sad to say bye to them, but it's for a great reason! They all know that I want to be a nurse so badly!!! And best of all, they support it :). Anywho, that's what's standing between me and nursing school right now .... that's two weeks from today AHH! haha :uhoh3::uhoh21::lol2:

Well, lets see. This past Friday went and did the paperwork for background check, did the drug test, and found my shot records. Today got my Hepatitis B titer drawn. Still need to get my physical done, get my house in order. My classes start August 25th and we will not have a list of books for a "few" weeks. urggg. I wanted to get started on those now. Oh yeah and thought I would schedule me a quick breakdown and get that out of the way before school starts. ...Lol:roll:bugeyes:

Haha! I'm so with you on that one! lol :grn::bdyhdclp::scrm:hahaah sorry I went a little bit overboard on the smilies...but they made me laugh so I just had to put them on here (for my own stress relief! :) )

i also start classes on may 12 and so far i bought my uniform and stethoscope. still need to do physical, drug test, buy books, find a part time job.

and oh yeah quit my current full time job. i typed up my notice, just procrastinating about turning it in. i do have a potential job in line but i would have to miss a day of class to do orientations. i dont know if thats a good idea, being new to the program. any suggestions would help. i dont think i would be kicked out of the program but i know missing days is frowned upon big time. :uhoh21:

I start my accelerated BSN program on June 2nd, one month from today!...I'm excited but more nervous than anything. I am working a lot (trying to get as much money before I quit) so I am exhausted right now and haven't even started school yet! I have to get my second TB test read today, drug test today, trying to get the last of the titer paperwork together, CPR class is scheduled for Monday and I still need to order books. I need a nap from just thinking of it all! :lol2:

That is a good idea about getting recipes together and starting an exercise program. I think I'm going to try and sleep as much as I can (wish I could store it up for later!)

Good luck everyone! :redbeathe

Classes don't start for me until August. Already did titers, but I still have to get a TB test done, well two. I have to do one before I take my CNA class this summer, and the other before classes actually start in August. I still have to take my CPR class, and order uniforms. I'm going to get my house cleaned top to bottom - we moved in our house during school last year, and I've still got some unpacking to do, lol. Like one of the other posters, I'm going to get on an exercise routine to build up my stamina. I felt so much better when I was exercising consistently, and my energy level was way higher. I'll be 42 in November, so that's important to me. And finally, the month before classes start, I'm going to do a bunch of cooking - double and triple recipes - and freeze them for when school starts. I figure it'll be a bit easier for those nights when I don't have the time or energy to come home and cook. Better than junk food, and a lot cheaper and healthier than eating out. Then, the nights I cook, just continue doubling and tripling meals so I have a consistent supply in the freezer. It's not any harder to double or triple a recipe than it is to make enough for one night, imo.
