I'm in my 3rd semester of an ADN program right now and I have to make an 80 on the next test and a 79 on the final in order to pass this semester. Normally, I would say that this would be no problem for me but I have the most horrible instructor this semester who's mission is to fail everyone in her class, I swear :o Most of our class has either already dropped, currently failing, or borderlining (like myself...)

You can do it. That's where I started reviewing the questions and findding alternate answers that were just as correct. With the documentation approach the instructor and explain your point. I finished Med Surg with a 124 average.

Oh I've already tried that. She refuses to hear it. Even though I have documentation IN THE TEXT book that another answer should have been accepted, she still looks at you like you are stupid :angryfire

The thought of a student, or anyone else for that matter, challanging her questions.... she refuses to even HEAR what we have to say.

When we have disagreed with questions in the past, previous instructors were pretty fair about it and would listen to our concerns and even accepted more than one answer on several occassions... but not this lady.

Good luck Shelly.

(Congrats P_RN on the 124 average. That's awesome!)

Just do your best! That's all anyone can ask of you!

Good luck Shelley - we're behind you (sitting on your shoulder from cyber space).

Do your best. That's all that you can ask of yourself. Make sure that you don't stay up all nite the nite before the exams. Get plenty of rest. And DON'T (or at least try not to) stress out over it. That's when we tend to read too much into questions which not only makes the exams horrific but we take too much time to answer the questions thereby not having enough time to complete the entire exam.

Best of luck to you. :)

Good Luck to you!! When is your exam?? I will say a prayer for you. This helped me so I will pass it on to you in hopes it will help you too. Cover your answers & read the question (I read it twice) then think what do I know about this?? I then pick the one that matches what I am thinking. You can do it. :)

Ive been there!! NOT knowing if ill pass or not. We had this HORRIBLE teacher too. She is cruel and wanted to fail everyone. They try and weed you out. Doesnt make any sense to me. We need nurses. You'll do fine. STUDY YOUR CLASS ROOM NOTES! Thats what helped me tremedously. Its too hard to study the entire nursing book/chapter.

Ok, I am not in an ADN program, but in my school, there is a school policy that states "if every student in the class or majority of the class complains about the class teacher. The school is obligated to replace that teacher with another capable instructor." Also if you have any evidence that he/she is you how you're saying, I would take it out to the department dean, if not the school dean.

For example, I was taking this course called Adult development and Aging. The teacher started playing unfair games e.g. she said "she will not accept any late assignments," and then started accepting late assignments without any written notice. Also, this teacher used to love taking points of my assignments (or anybody). She gave me only a 1/2 a credit for the last mini assignment. Knowing that, she told me "If I make at least 174/200 points on the final exam I will get an A." So I Make like 186/200 points (100 question tests). And she gives me 89% = B for the class. And this grade was even reported to my report card, so I spoke with my friend who was the head of the student body government and he said "take it to the soc, psych dean's office." I spoke with the dean, he looked at all the documentations she had given back and she was found at fault for giving only 1/2 credit for the last assignment (there were no evident of any mistakes), she was also found at fault for not giving a written consent when class policy changed, that meant, I received credits for the two late assignments that I didn't turn in (before policy changed, but I had it with me during the interview with the dean) and the last assignment. Which took me from 891/1000-915/1000 points. And I took the A that I deserved. All you need is to wait for the teacher to contradict his/herself and there goes your evidence to weed him/her out. "It takes more than a degree to be a teacher." (someone said it)

Best wishes
