sam are you planning on moving? As it doesnt really matter what we each make in our own home states unless your planning on moving here...and if that is the case, then you need to add in average cost of home-avearage cost of living-do you want rural? City?
Look at it this way...A new grad in Grand Lege, MN may start out making 16.00 an hour. A new grad in Tampa, Fl may start out making 32.00 an hour. At the end of the year the MN RN may very well have more money in her bank account than the Fl RN.
So are you going to want to move to Fla or MN? Me--well I have family near me, so I plan on staying in my area. I have approx 5 hosp I can chose to work for--they all pay around and about the same pay. So it comes down to who has the better schedual for me, who has the better benefits for my family--what are the Rn to patient ratios. Lots of options but money is basically end of the list as it is pretty much the same for my region.

3. CNA
4. 9.96/hr.
5. Full time, no travel
5. I get a 10 cent pay differential for working evening shift, 20 cents if I work nights (but I rarely works nocs). I get a month of vacation time every year...but I don't let it build up...i use it as it comes available, trying to take a week here or there. Holiday pay is 7.5 hours if you are full time and goes down from there. Sick pay accrues but in shorter amounts than holiday pay, also you must call in 2 days in a row and can use it the second day and any day after. You can buy into the companys health insurance and dental. I don't because I'm still on my moms and my daughter is on state medical. The dental that I looked into, the only place that took the insurance in this town was a place that doesn't look at adults, doesn't do cleanings, basically just emergency only, so I didn't buy the dental. You can buy into there 401K but they don't match. One other perk is I'm going to school and my boss is more than willing to be very flexible with my hours.

I think you should include how much experience the posters have as well, because that can make a huge difference.

I know that the CNA has accomplished a great deal for nurses in CA, but I truly have to question this salary for a new grad (with benefits), even in 2006....
