Pay Increase

Published

Hi all.

Does anyone know when will will be getting this pay rise? I have read that nurses are getting a 3 year deal over 3 years but when will we actually see this in our pay packet?

Thanks

Matt

if and when unison accept it ...

at present the best option is just to take whatever zanuLiarbour offers and make our point at the ballot box ...

zanuLiarbour showned maggie-esque levels of standing firm with the trumpton's 30 k pay fantasy , sorry 'claim ...

and given any service industrial action in the NHS is to the detriment of patients or would result in the harrassment and further bullying of staff by lay management ...

Ooh Zippy you sound so bitter - can't think why???:D

Oh wait.....yes.....it's the reason I'm leaving the country (well one of them anyway!)

I got 3% this year (private sector) but 3% of not a lot is..........not a lot!! Won't go near the petrol price rises, the fuel bill rises, the food price rises, the parking rate rises, the council tax rises, the loss of my 10% tax band - which (as a part timer) has left me taking home only about £20 more than I got as a "D" grade staff nurse 2 years ago etc etc etc!!! Nope the only way out for me is out the country!

well the fact that zanuliarbou is still using the excuse o fhte state the conservative party left the country in ... adopted a policy of changing things that worked back into a command economy measures then when they realised te command economy didn't work in the NHS ( hence the reason the conservatives changed it ) rein vented the wheel...

the command econony mentality is also displayed with stuff like the 4 hour target and the 'easy' stick of letting lay managers in trusts beat A+E and Assessment units over it while failing to change the real blocks to good through put - the inefficenct way in which local authorities run social care or where the LA is lead agency of joint health and social care projects and of course the way in which wards down the line run and the failure of lay managers to penalise medical teams that fail to provide acceptable documentation clouding discharge issues... ( either discharge criteria not set or " discharge this patient now " and forgetting aobut other factors)

the labour party has failed the NHS, the military , the police service while allowing allowing local authorities relatively unchecked , their one attempt at trying to managem local authorieis issues being the long overdue introduce or IRMP to manage fire service provision ...

the RCN have accepted this deal- or so I believe. its something i think should have had a vote.. as its effectively a pay cut being below the level of inflation.

also- when are nurses employed in general practice going to get the same 'rights' as nurses employed in the nhs?? its not just pay, but its entitlement to holiday (I know practice nurses who have 4wks holiday a year) and sick time (I get 4 wks full pay then nothing) and study leave ( I get 2 days). we also dont get increments..

oh and DN's need the mileage looked at- have a friend who is DN and her travel costs have rocketed and her mileage allowance doesnt come close. I suggested a push bike but had to duck the punch she threw!

Agree about the community. Apart from normal April % pay rise I had 2 pay rises in just over 4 years the first within the first year as I gained responsibility and second 2 years later, no increments at all. Although not one to take sick max I could have was 6 weeks paid and 6 weeks half pay compared to what I would have received in the hospital.

sorry that's more fool you ... when you change jobs you should look at the overall package ... GP practices directly employing staff will aim to maximise the profits for the owners - the Partners ... because they take the risk of running the business

incremental pay is very much a public sector phenomena

in many private sector jobs there's three rates of pay - training, probation and competent any proression beyond that is down to negotiation with management or down to commission etc.

Some of us don't have a choice! I work in the private sector because it's the only employer here.I got a whopping 28p an hour pay increase,2.5%!!4 weeks holiday(paid) no sick pay(except statutory)and if I left tomorrow after 17 years....nothing,no pension etc.Am I happy,no not really but don't really have a choice. At least I have a job!

I'm in the private sector & although the pay is lightly less (no increments) the holiday entitlement is almost on a par (just over 6 weeks), we have private health cover (£100 excess per entire treatment), as much study as you can get okayed - you apply for relevant study days & 99.9% of the time they'll pay for it. Also all mandatory training is provided with no problems & the pension scheme is not too far off the NHS one. They recognise long service with a badge & an extra days holiday at every 5 year interval. We don't get unsocial hours pay or bank holiday pay - what you earn is what you earn.

They are now looking at increments for nursing staff too. All in all I wouldn't want my old NHS job back!

oh I know very well about negotiations and GP's.. after 20 yrs in general practice, and having been lead nurse for a PCT, I know how the system works.

its about what makes a job acceptable. I get paid well (8C) and work completely independently. I dont have a manager- I lead the nurse team and we work independently of the gps. I dont have to work weekends or do nights, nor do I work bank holidays. I dont put up with any of the nonsense that goes on in hospitals.. no way would I work in a hospital again. I love the relationships that you develop with your patients in primary care- I am now caring for the children of the children I met 20yrs ago. they know me and I know them.. thats worth lots!!

I do know practice nurses who are in bad situations.. but that is down to them to negotiate - and that was part of my role as a lead nurse.

primary care V secondary care... give me primary care any day!
