doing it alone
Hi all! My names Mat i am now about to start my final yr as a student nurse in sept. When i finally qualify i would really love to nurse somewhere in us but i am a little worried about doing it alone is there anyone here that has done it alone? I hav never visited the us but the salary and weather is really appealing to me. I realise when i recieve my transcript that i may have a problem topping up my time in certain areas which is annoying but i will hopefully overcome that problem when i comes. Is there anyone that has moved from the uk to us alone? Also is there any student nurses that have to fill a portfolio as part of there course? or know anything about EU directives as i believe these may be able to help with the lack of time in different areas in relation to transcripts ;)

Adult nurses wanting to work in the USA..
Hi Tina, No unfortunatly not as i was hoping, all the pack really included was the areas and hours that were required. Nothing about how we are supposed to do this except to contact your nursing school. There is a presentation that ogp are doing at the Burlington hotel in bham city centre though which i might go to.

Hi Tina, I recieved an email from the head of nursing at my university today and he reckons that i will have evcidence of exposure to the required areas from EU directives that are in our portfolio. do u have a portfolio at your uni? do you do EU directives? these will be applied to your transcript :)

Adult nurses wanting to work in the USA..
Hiya tina, yes i just phoned ogp for information about how to get my extra hours and they informed me then, from what i gathered over the phone the hospital in london called city do the theory which costs £160 per branch but you have to find a place that will take you for the clinical experience yourself im not sure how difficult this will be but ill let you know when my pack comes through this morning. I too have tried to contact the head of nursing at the uce in birmingham where i study and he informed me that they dont do anything but to contact him again when i qualify as things may change, i am currently at the beginning of my 2nd year of training.

Adult nurses wanting to work in the USA..
Hi i am in a similar position as you, i am currently doing my nurse training 2nd yr at uce birmingham and for about a year now i have been thinking of working in usa when i qualify. Do u need to gain experience in mental health, child and midwifery to nurse in the us? How annoying i am still determined to nurse in the us but i just adds another hurdle i guess!
