Mom at IHP meeting: I am soooooo worried about my precious angel and her disease management at school.
Mom on first day of school: Nah, I don't have any glucagon. And I have a thing this morning so I can't bring it.
Feel free to add on, everybody. ?

Parent: Classroom must be Peanut/Treenut free, my kid will die looking at nuts.
First day: Nah, he doesn't need to sit at the cafe Peanut/Treenut free table - he is so excited to sit with his friends, he will be ok.

Parent: Make sure all the teachers follow students 504 plan and allow frequent breaks for her heart condition! (which they do...)
Student gets sent home (while having frequent rest breaks and not participating in recess) with a pulse that won't go under 146: "Daddy took me to the amusement park and arcade where I played lazer tag for my cousins 18th birthday until midnight after he picked me up yesterday!"

Parent: We aren't getting enough notification regarding health form requirements!!
*Sends emails, txts and backpack letters regarding immunizations, physicals and medication forms specific to my state last semester and over summer*
Two days before school: I didnt know my kindergarten student needed TWO mmr and varicella!! Why can't you accept this physical from 2015? I didnt hear about 7th graders needing additional vaccines?

Parent: My daughter is SEVERELY allergic to gluten
Me: Sends home food allergy form and letter requesting epi-pen & benadryl
Parent: Does nothing
Me: Calls, emails, calls again, calls other parent.
Other parent: Let me call my wife.
Parent: "Oh, she's not actually allergic to gluten, she just doesn't eat it by choice." ......OR insert any allergy in there and replace the last parent conversation with "She knows what to eat and not eat, I don't have time to take her to the doc to get that form filled out."

We just might be!!! ?
How do you get through registration? Does your school allow parents to begin classes without the necessary documents?
This is my school's first year mandating the health forms (private school) and I think the registrar's head is going to explode due to the amount of parents that have not brought in the forms yet.

Maddening.
Should be illegal for these allergic kids to be in school without their meds being immediately available.
Terrible that parents don't comply with such simple, basic, lifesaving "requirements", albeit not hard to understand, given the frenetic pace of modern life for parents. Still not an excuse.

My kinders cannot start until all the necessary paperwork is on file, my 7th graders who were in the school for 6th grade get 1 week to bring me in a copy of their updated shot records with proof of tdap immunization. All new enrollments (besides kinders) get a 30 day window to bring in physical and immunization record.

Very Nice! I like that policy. My school talks tough but they are wimps with enforcement.
After last year's debacle, I tried to institute a new policy this school year and everyone agreed last semester and alllllllll summer until literally today.

Mom: "I need you to email my baby's PE coach and tell them she can't participate this week. She sprained her ankle really bad."
Me: "Okay, we typically require a Dr.'s note. Did you take her to the doctor?"
Mom: "I'm not taking her to the doctor to spend $1,000 on an xray and a prescription for rest and ibuprofen. I have this machine at home, a really expensive one--like $8,000....and I've been using that to treat her ankle so I don't need to take her to the doctor."
