If you were granted one wish from hospital administration, what would that wish be?

All administration needs to spend a half a day, every 6 months, shadowing an RN. They need to see what in the heck they are really asking of their staff.

I'd go one step further and say that nursing management needs to spend one shift per month as a bedside nurse.

Agreed. I see my director moving beds around the hall alot, and I think she thinks it makes her look busy/productive *rolls eyes*.

I wish for them to walk in this NACs shoes for a day. For them to be me. For no-one to know that they are me so that those people treat me the way they do everyday....so they weren't putting on shows. Cause lets face it they could pretend to be a NAC for a day but they are going to be so RESPECTED because they are administration. That PITA resident is going to be an angel. That nurse is going to pitch in and help because it's administration. That other aide, she's going to be so nice to me and help me as needed because its administration. The cook, he's going to be respectful and not scream in my face when I ask for some soup for the man in room 30. But if they are me.....that resident is going to make demands up the ying-yang. That nurse, she's going to expect me to get 12 sets of vital signs, toilet Mr. A, hold Mr. Bs hand, and inform me Mrs. C needs ice water...she's too busy I KNOW! That other aide she's going to tell me she'll be right there and never show up, so out of frustration I do a 2 person transfer by myself....yet again. The cook is going to scream in my face that no the man in room 30 can not have more soup and how dare I ask him....in fact any leftover will go in the garbage...........Hmmm if only wishes could come true....But ya know I love my job and I love my residents. I do what I do for my residents. It's the most thankless yet the most thankful job I've ever done.

It would be nice if management had to be a bedside nurse for a 12 hour shift, but not so much to be the nurse following them...lol.

I would wish that sick pay and holiday pay were 2 seperate things
Where I work sick pay and vacation pay are to seperate things. But I've been back off my maternity leave for a year in January and I have half a week I believe. LOL. They do let us use vacation time if we have no sick time left but we can't use out sick time for vacation. I wish that we'd have PTO....just discretionary time to be used for whatever....and I wish we could use out sick time as vacation...especially in our line of work it's so EASY to be burned out....
I get 6 hours per pay period PTO and it goes so quick
