Ok Class of 2017, Where are you??

Hello my fellow nursing students. I will be starting my nursing classes on July 6. That's only 12 days from now! :nailbiting: I'm both excited and nervous. We had our first orientation yesterday, well it was more like a meet and greet. I have been on YouTube all day looking at videos on nursing school supplies. So I will be starting my school shopping this week. When did you get your school supply list? I was hoping to get mine at orientation, but nope no list! I hope that we can keep each other encouraged through the process. Congratulations to everyone who got accepted into the program.

I am going to buy all of my nursing books. I think they will be a good reference through out nursing school. Thanks for the tip Dogen!

I'll probably buy most of mine for future reference/study materials for the NCLEX, but I know there are a few that some of the students literally have not opened lol. I'd rather just rent those since they're not used.

Hi!! I start the end of August. I'm guessing our orientation will be late July or early August. We haven't been given too much information about that, unfortunately. I'm not sure what exactly will be required except for the basics...proper shoes, stethoscope, pen light, pens, etc like you guys have stated already. I'm so excited... I'm ready for it to start but I know that within a few months I'll be singing a different tune :whistling: Good luck everybody!!!

I had teachers that I learned never tested from material in the book, no matter what class they taught. By the end I didn't even rent books for their classes, I saved the money and bought more coffee.

You should own anything you think you might use, but bigwords.com can still save money, especially if you're okay buying used (check the condition, some of them are like new). Just uncheck the rentals box on the left.

I'm not an investor in this site. I just like sharing good ideas.

I know a lot of the books that we need to buy first semester are used throughout the program. So far I have been able to get everything off of Amazon for a fraction of what I would at the book store. I look in the used section and look for books that are brand new but have a minor flaw on the cover (especially if you are needing a newer edition). The other thing to do is to watch Craig's list for nursing students that have graduated that are selling their books.

I'm a semester behind everyone. I don't start until January. My last semester ends in December 2017 but I won't walk until 2018. My school only has commencement in the Spring. I don't know if I belong here or not

Everyone makes it sound like nursing school is the hardest, worst thing there ever was. It's a little discouraging. :(

Before I started nursing school, I was really nervous and second guessing my decision because of the discouraging comments from people, but don't let those comments bring you down! It's been the most amazing experience. It is definitely a lot of work but you will do fine, you made it into the program so have faith in yourself :)

I definitely plan to do this. I am not sure if we get the syllabus when classes start, or if we buy it from the bookstore prior to classes starting. So, is every one doing ADN or BSN?

I am doing an ADN program, with plans to start my BSN bridge when I finish. Was wondering what others are thinking about doing for a watch. I keep going back and forth between a wrist watch or a fob watch. I like the idea of a fob watch since it would not be in the way when doing patient care or when washing your hands, less likely to be an issue for infection control.

Hi everyone! I start my BSN program in August as well. I am nervous and excited to start, our orientation is Aug 14. Our uniforms are all white and we received supply list and book list once we was accepted. Currently working on my packet with physical and lab work which is due Aug 3.

Congrats to everyone starting soon!

Sure you belong here, we're all in this together! Congratulations on getting in your program!

I start my ADN program in the fall. We have our orientation on the 20th of August. I'm extremely nervous and excited about starting this journey. It's good to know there are others taking this journey with me!

I'm going to email my teachers to see what books they would recommend buying. Some of them never even use some of the books on our lists.

Oh hell, we'll keep you I suppose! ;)
