Ok Class of 2017, Where are you??

Hello my fellow nursing students. I will be starting my nursing classes on July 6. That's only 12 days from now! :nailbiting: I'm both excited and nervous. We had our first orientation yesterday, well it was more like a meet and greet. I have been on YouTube all day looking at videos on nursing school supplies. So I will be starting my school shopping this week. When did you get your school supply list? I was hoping to get mine at orientation, but nope no list! I hope that we can keep each other encouraged through the process. Congratulations to everyone who got accepted into the program.

Hi, :cat: I am doing an ADN starting in Sept. My orientation is in August! I am so excited. I have also gotten a Littman and awaiting it arrival. I got it from allhearts.com because I wanted my name ingraved on it! I don't want it to "walk away". I am getting the simple things like a pen box, clipboard for clinicals and a 3" binder, I got a scrub pocket organizer and some pen lights! I am just going to enjoy the rest of the summer and get my books in July so I can skim through and read. I am excited to share stories with all of you!

Oh could you let us know how long shipping took for your Stethoscope? I'm trying to determine when I should order mine.

We received our 124 page syllabus and it has the semester broken down into 5 units and tells us to be prepared to read 600 pages a week, no joke. The first unit alone is 31 chapters so I have started reading daily. At the urging of students in the program right now, I also started my med cards, we received a med list in the syllabus. I'm totally anxious, I'm not a good independent studier, and from what I understand you get very little actual lecture/direction.

I ordered mine from Redding Medical and received it with engraving on a Monday and I placed the order on Friday.

Oh geez, 600 pages a week? I sure hope that's not really the case. During my pre reqs, the reading I was supposed to do was a lot more than the reading I actually did. My Anatomy teacher, for instance, was a phenomenal lecturer. Attending every class and taking good notes got me through with very little reading. Hopefully that will be the case in a class or two in nursing school, but if not, we're in for a long haul lol.

Sure will

Wow!! 124 pages! That's a lot of syllabus! Do you attend a community college for ADN or university for BSN?

My friend in her second year swears it's true. :(

Well if that's the case, where's the cheapest place to buy coffee in bulk?

@purple_roses I know right! I'm seriously concerned right now.

Community college, ASN

Hello class of 2017!! Congrats to all!! I'm doing my ASN and bridging to BSN shortly after.

I start in August and although I'm beyond excited, I don't want this vacation to be over too fast. I'm so scared of what lies ahead for the next two years. I pray I will have what it takes to make it through.

I also can't wait to hear what our first weeks are like!

Good luck everyone!

We have 6 textbooks for the first semester
