Ok Class of 2017, Where are you??

Hello my fellow nursing students. I will be starting my nursing classes on July 6. That's only 12 days from now! :nailbiting: I'm both excited and nervous. We had our first orientation yesterday, well it was more like a meet and greet. I have been on YouTube all day looking at videos on nursing school supplies. So I will be starting my school shopping this week. When did you get your school supply list? I was hoping to get mine at orientation, but nope no list! I hope that we can keep each other encouraged through the process. Congratulations to everyone who got accepted into the program.

We could all invest in a franchise for coffee, might be the most cost effective route :dead:

124 page syllabus is insane! Mine is 30 and I thought it was nuts. 600 pages a week sounds about right, my first lecture covers I think 6 chapters, not including the 6 on the nursing process we need for lab. 3 required textbooks and about a dozen "recommended"

At least my stethoscope makes me feel like I have a clue 😝

I'll invest!

I'm just glad I like to read. Maybe it won't be completely torturous for me ;) I have to switch books every 40 or 50 minutes to keep myself engaged. And I have to keep my phone out of sight...I'm addicted to it.

As far as addiction, me too! I'm *supposed* to be studying right now. Face palm.

Well if I see you guys on here too much during the semester, I'm calling you out--and if I notice you're on here too much, it means I am too 😜

I stay on here all day at work. I read way too many threads and comments. I think I am going to miss AN once August gets here. :(

I'm pretty sure mine is going to feel like a prop for a while. 😜

I thank I might wear mine to my job everyday just so I think I look cool! 😜

Haha! My textbooks feel more like props than the scope so far 😖

Glad to find this post! Congratulations to all! I just got my acceptance letter on Saturday so I still have so much to do. I'm in a ADN 2 yr program. I plan on getting my BSN in the future. Good luck to everyone!

Me! I start in August and I'm going for my BSN. I am nervous but only nervous about failing. We got our extensive shopping list and our insanely expensive book list. We need 7 books just for one class :(. I've already got all of my shots, physical, etc. out of the way. CPR is done as well. Scrubs are ordered (our are custom). I still need to get stethoscope, white shoes (eck), watch, and all of my books. I've been shopping around for the cheapest prices. Some books have to be bought new for the access codes but I did comparing with 5 different websites and got my costs down from $1,300 to $544.32 and I am insanely happy about that. Our orientation isn't until August 18th and our welcome day was supposed to be in May but it was canceled due to construction. 2017 will be here before we know it!

FYI: first couple of semester's book bills may be outrageous but they are books you'll use throughout school (lab book, med book, nursing diagnosis, physical assessment, etc.) so don't freak too bad. It won't be that way every semester.

Another FYI: my first semester of nursing school books cost me around $700. Took me 3 trips to my car to carry them out. But some of my later semesters were only $50
