Need ideas ONLY for controversial problems or issues on today's college campuses

Hi I am working on dreaded scholarship essay's and the above is one of the questions. I am not looking for anything other than listed ideas to get me going. I do not know too many issues that plague campuses since have always gone to community college and was in and out for my classes and thats it. I mainly concentrated on my classes and went straight home that's it. And I don't really watch the the news, not enough hours in a day.

There is a lack of respect for faculty, with students challenging grades and sueing for grades/degrees they think they've paid for. So far the courts have upheld schools' rights to grant or not, diplomas.

Military recruiters on campus. Credit card solicitors on campus.

Ah, that's a good one. Makes me recall students in my previous classes whining and complaining about this and that because they were too lazy. Always bugged me because no one made them be there and they always were trying to find an easy(lazy) way to get the grade. or beg for extra credit because they were too lazy to study the first time. I had no idea students were sueing schools though. Geez. Kind of scary, these kids will be running the country some day.

Binge Drinking/underage drinking

Rape

Drug Use

Suicide

Hazing in fraternities/sororities

smoking on campus!! its a real problem at my school and I would imagine most schools...the student smokers congregate at the entranceway of all the buildings and the rest of us are forced to walk through all the second hand smoke bc we have to get into the building for class.

My campus is smoke free. But it hasn't been without controversy. It might be interesting to see how many colleges are considering or have already banned smoking and some of the issues such a ban presents, such as compliance and enforcement.

i did a paper on credit card solicitation on campus. it is pretty bad some of the tactics they use.
