which is important attribute of an effective nurse?

The ability to take care of the patient.

Knowledge is good. Being able to put that knowledge into direct action for patient care is even better.

Many people have different opinions of what attributes a nurse must have to be effective. I really do not know what other folks would think, but this is what I belive one must have to survive our tough world of nursing.

These are just a few of many:

1. A positive, can do attitude.

2. Resoucefulness;if you don not know the answer, find out what the answer is and add it to your knowlege base. Always find an expert, and make them your best friends at work.

3. No matter how bad the day gets, just know the day will come to an end, and a new and better one will be just around the corner.

4. Do not look at difficult patients as "problems" look at them as challenges to overcome. Do your best to help them, not complain about them.

5. Be passionate about what you are doing, care about the welfare of your patients.

Understand that I'm having a tough time right now dealing with lazy, mean coworkers and idiot bosses who play favorites and take care of themselves but throw line staff to the wolves. And self-serving Administrators who focus on customer service and money rather than on getting patients well while not burning up and abusing their staff.

The true answer to your question is that there are numerous attributes that a good nurse must have. Why do instructors play these goofy games and get you to try to pick just one?

Good time management skills & a thick skin.

Of course you must have knowledge and skills. But those are Learned

attributes. But if you do not CARE for patients,all people in general,in the long run you will not be a effective nurse. You will just be doing a job. And that makes for a long hard shift (and life)!

Assuming the nogin is working ok, flexbility is pretty important.

well i dunno....choosing one of that is hard...coz i know they are all important attribute of a nurse but ..of course in this world there are a best one in three choices
