How do you unwind...

....after a 12 hour shift? I'm doing an externship and this is the first time I've ever worked 12 hours at anything. I have a busy family and I'm used to putting out fires, but I'm astounded by the many nonstop, neverending tasks which the nurses must do. When I get home I'm stuck on stupid. Its like a kind of culture shock. How do you transition?

I usually transition from being awake to being asleep pretty quickly actually

Hot shower, tasty meal, some time browsing on the computer, relaxing book, bed.

Hot shower, food, wine, benadryl, and sleep. Now I'm pregnant so I have to forego the wine....

Walk the dog, take a shower, go to bed and read. If it's been a particularly bad day, the dog gets a long, LONG walk.

Very long walks...as often as I can! Fishing!

I usually come home, eat, and fall asleep. Within like 2 hours. So, I'm not too sure if my routine counts as unwinding or literally passing the heck out haha:)

Listen to favorite music on the way home. Spend time with my hubby and animals. Chill out on the couch.... very relaxing.

I usually go to bed pretty quickly as well. It feels awesome to get horizontal after 12 hour shifts!

Shower, snack, a little TV or Internet, sleep within 2 hours. On days off we go to Disney World. A lot.

If I'm not dead tired, surfing the net and a nice, cold beer.

I have an hour drive home so I have different playlists depending on the day. usually cereal for dinner and a little time playing mindless computer games/FB.

I work night shift so some mornings (my NIGHT) I have a nice glass of wine. Then some Benadryl, then bed. I can't fall asleep right away...I need some downtime first.
