hi guys,

havnt been on in a while have been quite unwell. hope everyone is doing ok. wanted to throw this question out there, im sure everyone has moments when they are not sure whether they are doing the right thing by moving to the US:uhoh21:, however its nice to know you're not alone in that thinking!!!! maybe people could tell of their experiences doubts and fears and give others some solace in the fact they are not alone???

thanks in advance

I'm only just starting the process and have so far had no change of mind, however i first decided I wanted to do this back in 1999 and have decided against it several times, but it has usually been becuase of having children etc. Now i am done with having babies i am commited to going to the USA. My only issue is deciding which state to move to as so many of them appeal and have good points and bad points

yes on a few occassions have thought about changing our minds and at one stage (Jan 06) did cancel the process due to hubby getting up with all the delays, was initially told process would take less than 12 months and started the process march 2003, now caught up with the retrogression but this time we are not even thinking about giving up

Too many times to mention! We are in Oz at the minute and loving every minute of it, the works great, the people are great, the weathers great and we are happy here. Still miss the UK, but the way I deal with it is knowing that nothing is permanent, we float back and forth across the continents and probably always will. We more than likely will not go to the US to work permanantly. Hubby for one doesn't want to go back and I've always been undecided anyway. I guess a lot of it has to do with the fact that, because he is American, we spend a lot of time over there with family and friends anyway, he has a lot of negatives about the place and financially we would be worse off. I never say never though!:trout:

I don't think you'd be human if you didn't have doubts at some point. We worry if we're making the right decision for our children - we worry about just HOW LONG it's gonna take to sort out the stupid Visa situation, we worry about what we'd do if it all went wrong (although we've decided Canada or Oz but definitely not back here:D).

However, I was just looking at pics of my lovely US home & the area & then I've looked at my London garden & home & there's NO comparison!

I think Madwife once said on a thread a long time ago that we have to be more than a little stubborn to go through this process & I think she's right! stubborn people, by their nature, put their doubts aside in the end.

Awwww glad it's all calm again for you EN - now you can re-start your diet :lol2:In our household have definitely upped our wine consumption since retrogression hit & that includes the kids:rotfl:!!

never changed my mind, but never gave up wondering when things were going to happen. when we came here we didnt know where we were going until 4 weeks before we flew. but it didnt bother us as it didnt matter to us, but it all worked out for the best., and to our benefit.

I first decided to make the move back in 1997 and changed my mind in 1998 1999. I forgot about it again until 2003 and then then we made our minds up once and for all in 2004 and we said we had to do or else we were going to go crazy if we didn't. My only regret is i wish we had done it when it first crossed our minds then we could have got all the BS over sooner lol

I was the same, i decided to do it as soon as I had qualified, but by the time i had a couple years experience it was out of our mind due to getting married, then it was the kids that came along, and then i think because they were still so little i put it off again. I wish i had done it sooner too as it has become harder now

Once we had made the decision to go for it (after 10 years of Hubby nagging to go for it!!!) we never changed our minds while we were in the UK BUT we did wonder on numerous occassions wonder whether we were doing the right thing - right up until we said good bye to everyone and on the plane.

When we got here and moved to our house (which had been empty for 6 months) everything in the house seemed to go worng and we spent $$$ on getting it right - it did cross our minds a couple of times that we maybe shouldnt have come here -but to be honest that didnt last long and we now dont regret it for a minute.....
