How far away is your school?

I was recently accepted into my first choice school and it's 75 minutes away, on a good no-traffic day. My city is very large so I haven't thought too much about it, but it seems to always shock everyone how far I will be going. I do admit, I have looked at some Airbnb's close to campus for days when I know weather will be bad, we have a big exam, or if I have an early clinical even further away.

    45 minutes for me :( But I don't mind - I will have some good music ready!

    I know some days I will have to set off like 2hrs before class if I feel like traffic will be crazy, but it'll all be worth it in the end!

    I started staying in a hotel the night before clinicals after I almost got killed on the highway during my (then) hour and 45 minute commute. My furthest commute was 98 miles. I left very, very early to miss most of the traffic and would nap in my car when I got there very, very early. Security bugged me but I told them my deal and they told me where to park.

    My school is 5 minutes from me. I was so happy when I got into the nursing program speaking that it was the only one I could apply to. There was a few other choices in the area about 45 minutes t an hour away but I knew that it would be a problem getting to the clinical sites that the other schools used and the school due to my work schedule and kids..

    WOW! Glad you made it safely! My school is in a fairly "ritzy" part of town so even the sketch motels are over $100/night. There is one hospital I may have clinicals at that is about an additional 20 min. past my school. I'm anxious to get my schedule at orientation, hopefully. The one thing I have going for me is that I would be a "reverse" commuter!

    My BSN completion program was nearly two hours' drive away from me, but I only had to be there a couple days a week. I met someone who was able to connect me with an older lady (widowed) who wanted to make some extra money but didn't want someone living with her full-time, who was happy to rent me a room in her house a few days/week (since I really just slept there; didn't hang out during the day or anything). That worked out really well, and we even ended up becoming close friends. It was a lot cheaper than a motel (even a cheap one :)), and she was flexible when I needed to stay an additional night, or different nights than usual at various times. If you start asking around at school, you may have a classmate closer to campus who would be willing to let you crash at her/his place when necessary, or knows someone who has space and is looking for some extra income.     I was 5 minutes away from my school, but many of my classmates had 1-2 hour commutes and they were rarely late. They never stayed at hotels, and some of them carpooled. They made it work and I'm sure you can too :)

    45 minutes to school, 1 hour to my clinical site - I usually find some interesting lecture on whatever topic I'm studying on youtube and listen to that on the way in.

    30 minutes but I've worked plenty of jobs that was 75 minutes from my house with ideal traffic. I think you will be fine..just try to leave the house early to beat traffic. Eat well, drink lots of water, and be kind on your body.

    Mine was at least 30 min away, not too terrible. We had some people who came from Indiana (I live in Ohio) to go to where I went because there was no wait list. I went to a private college to get my RN degree.

    Mine is about 1.5 hours, but don't really mind the commute. My clinical site is about 2 hours away. I have a classmate who drives 3 hours to school and leaves 4-5 hours before class starts so she can beat traffic then sleeps in her car until class begins. People make it work, you will too. :)
