HCC Spring 2017 Nursing Program

Anyone out there know if they are applying for the 2017 Nursing program for HCC (Hillsborough Community College)? I am! Just realized I want to do this so I'm taking A&P 1 and 2, microbiology, and sociology this summer. Apparently its called the crazy train! Anyone else doing something similar?

I think it's good to have connections in the hospitals considering we're ADN students competing with BSN grads.

I would agree with that 100%, Analgesic!

I think I will continue to not work I rather be focused on the program especially since I have small children and a husband so that's a full time job in itself.

Y'all making me nervous, lol. I have no medical experience.... uh oh! Haha. I do want to become a PRN while in the Program though. Hope everyone is safe and dry after these storms. Only a few more weeks to wait.

Thats amazing. I could never imagine having kids and a family going through the process.

You are right! With my husbands personality, I feel like it's 2 full time jobs lol. Unfortunately I have to continue working. My husband is self employed so we need my health insurance. We have 2 small kids.

you go girl! My mom did RN school at HCC (class of 1991) when I was in her belly lol. She worked full time and managed to get everything done. You can do it!!

Yes Anagelsic I have three little ones luckily they are all in school. Well I have a 9 year old a 5 year old and a 2year old two boys and baby girl and between classes now and kids I am juggling pretty well. Your mom was a rock star being pregnant doing it all such motivation.

RockFuture_PsychNP yes we can relate it's hard but defiently more motivation to keep going harder for them.

Hi everyone. I was told saturday that the results might be released early around the 1st of October. Has anyone heard this?

Yes I have less than 30 days which makes it even better.

Haha I feel the same way. I've always wanted to work in the hospital setting prior to becoming a nurse. I work full time at a bank, which I plan to stay at during the program, so I don't think I would have time for any hospital related experience or exams (that aren't part of the program itself). I thought about CNA before though, just to get a feel of the hospital setting.

Izzies cna is actually great to have that way you have a feel for patient care. That's all cnas do the dirty jobs the lpn and RNs usually hate except in a hopsital

setting where RNs do it all. I know being a cna you get to know the patients on a different level but they are often underpaid and overworked oh and not to meant treated like trash depending on the company. I mean I loved being a cna but once I become a nurse I will have so much more gratitude towards cnas because I have been there before.
