I do. Work full time. Three 12s a week and take classes. I work as an ER tech.

I would highly recommend getting a tech job during school. Once you graduate and are studying for NCLEX, you get promoted to GN (Graduate Nurse). Then when you pass boards you get promoted to RN.

Plus the experience is invaluable. You already have so much hands on skills that nothing really phases you. I've worked in Med/Surg, Neuro and now EM. You can really tell the difference in the nurses who were techs beforehand vs the ones who were not.

What qualifications did you have to earn that position ?

I work at LRMC. I'm not a tech though. As I mentioned before, I have a Master's in Mental Health so I work on the psych unit and have gotten the opportunity to take the role of a tech here and there but it's not my job title.

I challenged the CNA exam and got licensed. It's super easy. TGH is the only hospital that hired me with no experience.

Wow congratulations Analgesic I am also a CNA been for 4 years now and it is super easy. I think it's to bad that we couldn't skip Nur1 since most of the clinical experience is based on nursing skills and patient care starting out. I want Tampa General to be my hospital of choice after graduation!

I plan on working during the program too, but not planning on working in a hospital setting. Definitely need something less demanding while in the program. I currently work as a scribe in the ED at Florida Hospital. Not a huge fan of the ED, especially since we're not a trauma center like TGH, but it's nice to get some minor experience.
