Well all...school is dismissing at noon today for everyone to grab their kids, batten down the hatches and skedaddle outta here for the big blow and flood this weekend. It's been a long time since a hurricane has come into the Texas coast so everything is kinda crazy. There is no bottled water to be purchased anywhere from Brownsville to Houston to San Antonio, the stores that still have gas have lines out the wazoo, and you couldn't guy a sheet of plywood for any amount of money to board up your windows (if you didn't have that already). People are generally going ape you-know-what. I've lived here all my life so I know the drill and know how dangerous those unpredictable storms are; I road out Hurricane Celia in 1970 lying face down in the mud, huddling behind a concrete slab (the same slab that held the building I was in until it was sucked away in one of the tremendous gusts that were clocked at over 200 mph).

So, if you don't mind, and you're inclined to be a praying person, please send one up for the safety these folks down here that have never dealt with something like this.

Praying for you and all those in the path, Old Dude. We need you here on the school nurse board so, keep safe!

I am keeping everyone that may be affected in my thoughts and prayers. Stay safe folks! Positive vibes and prayers heading your way!

I will pray for your safety also.

Stay safe! I have a son, DIL, and grandkids there too, I hope you all ride this out safely.

Prayers for all!

Evacuated from Corpus to Fredricksburg. Waiting to hear more.

Stay safe down there! I still remember seeing all the damage to the roofs in Houston after your last big one. Prayers to all!

Prayers sent for you old dude.

Prayers for all those in Texas! Please keep us posted as soon as you are able.

Praying for you! I'm in the DFW area, and I have been watching the news, saddened about what has happened to my fellow Texans. We are expecting an influx of families from the Houston area. Please let us know, Old Dude, if there is anything you need. How is your clinic, students, and schools? I would love to donate to your clinic/school/families. Don't hesitate to ask. Again - praying for you.

Late to the forum, but prayers for you and your community!!

I am in a suburb of Houston, directly impacted by the high winds and flooding waters. I heard a tornado go past my house on Friday night, but luckily was unaffected. I am very fortunate as to have no flooding in my house, but many of my fellow Houstonians are not so lucky. Please continue to pray for all of South Texas. It truely is as bad if not worse than what you are seeing in the news. Our schools are closed for the entire week and maybe longer, as roads have been washed away, and many areas will be under water for months. There is no place for the water to drain to. We are not out of danger yet, as they say more rain is on the way.
