Worksource is a FL initiative. They are there to assist the unemployed for the most part. They have training programs to get folks back to work. Tied into this is helping Nursing students. I was laid off just before starting NS. I went into them as a displaced worker. They are paying my tuition, books, uniforms, equipment and pay $5/day (that you attend school) for gas.

:D

How long did it take for them to get back to you? And how did you go about getting uniforms, equipment etc with the funds did they cut you a check for it?

futureRNmom... have you ordered your polo shirt yet? can we just wait until orientation for that? I read that they would be there.

I went to the worksource office and then had to take a couple of 'aptitude' type tests. If you score OK on those, they ask you to bring in a bunch of documentation and they have an orientation where a group of NS students are signed up all at once.

They give you a book voucher and you take that to the bookstore and get all that you need there. I paid for the uniform (1) and the Skills kit (I got my stethescope free from by RN brother! :D ). I turned in that receipt and got a check back at the Beginning of the month when my mileage check came in.

It takes about 2 weeks total, if I remember correctly. The days getting everything ready go so fast, you lose track of time!!!!

I was just wondering how someone got in the Nursing Program with a 188 ???

I didn't have to take any aptitude test they just used my NAT scores. I had my intake and its getting processed right now. Do they have a price limit on what you can spend? I don't know if I should order my uniform and supplies now or wait.

Did someone really get in with 188???

I still haven't received an acceptance or denial. Not sure at this point if I should call or wait until next week. A bit frustrating!!!

An Asian student got in with 188

An Asian student got in with 188

Are you reading this from another post? If so that asian girl never received a acceptance letter she received notice about a scholarship which was not from the program! The cutoff was 193 and NO ONE got in unless they had over 193!

1wayst,

I see in a couple of your posts you stated that you and your high-point friend have a "duval address".

I am not certain of your situation, but when I applied for Summer09, the NS began investigations into the validity of the address used for establishing Duval residency. Could it be that you don't live in Duval and they figured that out?

Dunno.....just thinking.....

No, that's not the case! I would expect them to verify addresses. I would think they would have to do this to give priority. Actually, my points are figured wrong. I was not given credit for a class I took many years ago. I spoke with the director today and she is supposed to be checking in to it and getting back with me! But, thanks for the info... :)
