FCCJ Fall 2008

Hello all! Just thought I'd start a thread for all of those folks that have submitted, or are getting ready to submit, their applications for FCCJ's Fall '08 term.

I will be submitting my application in a few weeks, when this Spring term ends. I have taken my NAT (twice), so I'm good to go there, but still need to get my CPR class done. I called several places & I'm waiting to hear back from them.

I look forward to chatting with & getting to know all of you, who will be doing the count-down with me... on getting our acceptance letters!!!

I know it helps to sound-board off each other & to lean on each other for support... especially with getting all the things done that we have to do!

Best of luck & success to all!!!

Hi everyone. I spoke to one of my friends in the RN program and she told me that we will need a student ID for clinicals. So if ya don't have one...... I went to North Campus earlier on in the week but there machine was down, guess I'll try next week

lol...I assumed our picture we gave them was going to be used for a student ID. I already have one from Kent Campus, but it doesn't have any way of attaching it to me. Looks like I will have to get another one as well. Thanks!!

If you can, don't waste your money on a pen light just yet because we get one in our skills kit.

I would assume that the one from Kent will work. I need a new one since mine is a really old pic with long hair and I look really different.

Yes, I just got that email too. I guess it takes a little while with the nametags. I'm with you, I want to try them on to make sure. My pants are folded and ready to go. I got a little bookcase just for nursing stuff but somehow it's filled already with other books! I've got to get more organized.

Yeah..lol. Your are more organized than I am. I just have my pants, shoes, and accessories sitting in their bags in my closet. I have this giant book case and its already half filled with books and the rest with pictures. Good bye pictures!! Helllooo books! I will also have to clean and I need to start organizing. Wooooo...I'm soooo excited though!! I started to lose my buzz for a while, but the skills kit definitely brought it back. I'm ready for orientation.

Mine was from a couple years ago already. I look faded out in the picture. I don't think it would hurt to have a new one made. What do you think the passport photo was for then?? Maybe we should wait and see if we need to get one until after orientation.

I decided to order onw large and one medium shirt from meridys that way i can decide which one fts better and then exchange the one that doesnt!! one can get me through till the exchange!

They might keep the passport photo in our nursing files. Or, they might send it with our files to the clinical sites, when they have to be approved.

I thought at first they would just use our passport photo as well. I kept putting off getting it taken until my hair was just perfect and then my friend told me it doesn't matter because that photo just stays in your file throughout nursing school. So I asked, well aren't we going to get some type of ID for clinical and thats when she told me we have to have fccj ID. I guess we will see.

The buzz is wearing off for me too. Now I'm just waiting. Really looking forward to orientation and getting started. I want to know the schedule so bad! It will be more concrete to me with a schedule. I guess I also have to get an id made. I thought the passport photos were for the id as well. Had I known, I wouldn't have bothered with lip gloss...

Having a schedule would be nice. I hope we get that on August 7th. I need to show my boss for work and then I'll know what kind of hours I have to work with.

The whole photo thing cracks me up. We all tried to look our best in this picture and for all we know it just sits in a folder, that FCCJ hopefully won't lose. Thank goodness for copies..lol.

I picked up my polo today from Florida Specialty. It is huge. I got the xs but it is still like a dress on me. The shirts arms are also really big. I hate having to wear clothes that are to big they are so uncomfortable. So if you have not ordered your shirt yet I would maybe order a size smaller than you usually wear.

I really want to know the schedule too. I really need to be in the night program, but I guess I'll just have to get a second job on the weekends if it is only days. I really wish FCCJ was open on the weekends, I would never complain about working weekends!!

Well, funny story about the passport photo: The lady told me I couldn't wear earrings. I told her that I couldn't take mine out and she didn't believe me. I had to show her that the only way they come out is to either destroy them or to rip my ear open, lol.
