FCCJ Fall '09???

Anyone else planning on applying to FCCJ's nursing program for Fall '09? I figured we might as well start a "support group" thread of sorts for those of us who are. Never too early to start, right?

Ok so I called to inquire more about the Nassau/Duval preference policy, and this is what happened:

I talked to someone in the nursing dep. at north campus (not cheryl james), and they told me the exact thing that FLmomof5 said. I still didn't think that this was fair soo...

I emailed the Dean of the BSN program and asked if this was correct, and she said that this was incorrect and that the applicants were chosen by their points first, and then if there were people "tying" for the last spot, the person in N/D county would get it, and that was the only case when the preference would be used. Sooo then....

I called the nursing dep. back so I could tell them that they were mistaken. I talked to a different person and they still thought that they were correct about the county preference being looked at first and then points, even though I told them what the Dean had said. Soo then....

I called the Dean and told them what the nursing department said. So she emailed the campus president, who in turn emailed her back and said that the nursing department was wrong and that she was going to figure everything out this Tuesday.

So hopefully, the campus president will work things out so that points are looked at above what county you live in first which used to be the policy (and perhaps may still be). But we will see....

Ok this is very interesting because when I went to the information session I asked about this specifically and was told that for the summer term anyway they didnt choose anyone that was not in the preferred counties. I asked the person doing the presentation. So if this is true then it sounds like it is happening just as the nursing dept says it is. Actually I point blank said if I have all A's and someone from the preferred county has all C's will they get in before me and she said yes.

SJRCC also has a system like this were if you are from St Johns County you get extra points when you apply to the program.

I'm taking the NAT on Wednesday. Can anyone tell me what they thought were the most difficult questions in the Math and Science area???

TIA!

Oh, also, if the Dean and President are correct and the Nursing Dept is wrong, I would think there would be a lot of upset PRIOR applicants :o(

I dropped my application off on Friday. The woman checked over the application and then logged it as received. I asked if they had received a lot of applications and she said "oh yeah!". She said they'll get a bunch of applications as the deadline approaches.

More importantly, she said to expect to hear something the 3rd week in July.

So it's a waiting game now...I have 199 points. Makes me nervous every time I see one of you 200+ point people posting on here. :p

I just turned in my application with 205 points. Let the waiting begin...

Wow, this is soo scary. I thought I had a decent score (189) but a lot of you are busting out in the 200+! I turned in my application today, but it looks like i better retake AP I. I was recently declined for UNF nursing and now it looks as if FCCJ is just as competitive. I hope being a minority male runs in my favor.... On another note, if you have a decent NAT score (I had a 104) and are rejected for Fall 09, can you use your preexisting NAT score for Spring 2010? Thanks and good luck to everyone!

yes you can still use that score. hopefully we all get in for fall though and you wont have to worry about spring!!!

Submitted my application last week with 223 points, I hope its enough. . .

I can relate. I was told in the past if you had 195 points you were almost automatically in and I have 196.2 and will be on edge until we hear. Any word on the multiple this time around?

Hmmmm...I wonder when Orientation will be for Fall 2009? We have a family vacation planned for August.

Hi ladies

I know that we are all just sitting here waiting to find out. I hope you all are at least trying to enjoy your summer. I have a question regarding the CPR cert. I need to retake it because the one I did is not the correct one. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I should go. I live on the south south of Jax almost julington creek.

Thank you.
