Do your co-workers see you here?

no ,but my former classmates have. i was so happy to hear from them and get their emails.

I really doubt it. They wouldnt know my user name because i dont talk about things i do on the internet at work. I try to be more general about things so it would be difficult to decide if i worked with them or not.

And you can look at it like this,, if they do recognize you would they have the nerve to mention it or would they prefer to be anonymous too?

I am sometimes worried about posting and getting "caught" by co-workers.

Any advice? Any stories to share?

I'm sure there are some with whom I've worked who recognize me here. I've had a few pm me asking if we didn't work together on one of my contracts.

I don't have any issue with it as I consider the internet as a public place and basically don't post anything on here that I wouldn't say while sitting in the breakroom at work. (Among colleagues, not around pts.). Since I'm pretty outspoken, most people know my opinions anyway. The thing I am most careful about is not to come anywhere close to anything that might violate pt. privacy, or reveal anyone else's identity.

i couldn't help but share with many coworkers the value of this website, how it feels like a family after awhile. really. some at work know my handle but that's ok ;-)...i trust that whatever i post usually doesn't cause flame ups and rarely am i very upset with situations at work...well the recent post on where to eat at work, that is an ongoing contention, as my new department manager stated, "some rules are meant to be broken!"...now which rules she specifically means i guess i'll eventutally find that out!

There have been a few cases in the past in which posters have gotten in some hot water/employment/legal issues because they were "recognized" here.

While I refer people to Allnurses as well as other sites, I do not reveal my name, but some people have guessed.

Another thing i've seen people talk about on here is wanting to remain anonymous, yet logging on to this site from work! Baaaaad idea if anonymity is important to the person.

I have no idea if co-workers post, but I do cringe when I read some of the posts here. I think it's easy to forget this is a public forum--- and you never know who could be lurking.

The only way I could be traced was due to a hippa violation, in which I gave far too many details about a scenerio than was wise at the time. I'm overly cautious of this and hope we all are.

Now talking facility specific, well If I wanted to give that much detailed info, we've 4000 nurses... I'd be sure to be found. I'm not that interested in giving up my privacy, have my posts read back to me by the manager to go into that great of detail of my gripes. It's obviously happened to previous posters, but if I want to give an honest vent I try to be careful.

But I'm new and yet to be "found", I don't think I'd like giving up the private sounding board. Call me selfish:lol2:
