Charting!!??

We use PowerSchool for student information ie address, phone numbers, emergency contacts, (other than those on our paper health histories) schedules (I am in the high school setting). How exactly do you use PowerSchool for Charting. (maybe ours isn't equipped with that or I am just not aware of this feature) How do you keep others from accessing the information?

We use PowerSchool. It's a nice program. Meds are still documented on paper but most is computerized. I'm old too but it's much easier for me than paper.

Not quite sure where you think that is a biased question. I was asking simply if my fellow school nurses used paper charting or their districts had a "fancy" computer documentation software.

That is a fairly biased question and I am wondering what you are really asking?

Under "health" there is an "office visit" page to input the visit. Our technology dept. has it set so that only nurses can access the "health" and "health conditions" tabs. However, we are not using it because we seems to change database providers every few years...

We use PowerSchool as well and only the nurses can access the health component, the building admin can't even get into health. We can put any need to know conditions/allergies in that will show up next to the student's name for the teachers if they have that student.

Lots of LPNs. They are overseen by RN who travels between schools in a district.

It depends on the state.

Our district will hire RN's for school nurse positions but here it's an LPN pay scale! So they really have to like what they are doing! We have two supervising RN's and one NP. We have 16 schools in our district, each supervising RN and our NP divide up the schools. Our NP is also head of health services department for the school board, (she also works in a MD office, busy busy lady).
