Jan 27, 201610 yr Our computer guy made a simple word system that has contact info / med history and a documentation page for each student that is password protected. Free and easy. Wish we could afford the nice spreadsheet based program like I am used to, but that is just too much for a small private.
Jan 27, 201610 yr I do a combination. I chart visits on a google docs sheet on the computer, but chart medications on paper. Health screenings are inputted into our schools computer software program. I am hoping to start using all computer charting next year, but we'll see if it gets set up for me.I do exactly the same
Jan 27, 201610 yr Both.I keep a running clinic log for quick notes through the day then use Renweb for documentation when time allows. Our school uses Renweb for all communication, teaching and admin documentation, medical documentation, attendance, library, sports, everything.
Jan 27, 201610 yr That is a fairly biased question and I am wondering what you are really asking?cathymacRN

Jan 27, 201610 yr I am a telemetry nurse in a medium sized hospital, our tele floor has 32 beds I believe- ICU has 9 beds- and we still paper chart too - the meds, vitals and labs are all on the computer now and CPOE prints all our orders for the clerk to put in the patient chart flagged for us to see and sign. We have a 'trifold' for each patient that we document in through the day that holds the assessment and all nurses notes
Jan 28, 201610 yr Just realized this is in the school nursing section- sorry! My hospital charting means nothing here!!
Jan 28, 201610 yr I document everything using eSchool and I try to document realtime. Even if the clinic is very busy I am generally able to at least enter a student into the daily log within minutes of their arrival. I have worked in a district where the practice is to paper chart and enter later. The problem with this practice is that the nurse may not be immediately alerted if the student has any medical issues - allergies, asthma, cardiac condition, IBS etc. In eSchool once you enter a student into the daily log, a medical alert appears next to the name if the student has any health concerns, making my job a little easier.
Jan 28, 201610 yr Author Haha. It's okay. Just realized this is in the school nursing section- sorry! My hospital charting means nothing here!!
Do you paper chart or do you have "fancy" Computer charting?
