uniform actually came in today, only a few days after ordered-- a nice surprise.

Wow...thats nice your uniform came in so quickly. I register next Tuesday AM and get fitted for the uniform that afternoon. I took my CPR class last night and met a NS classmate! Im relieved that I have all the paperwork together. The only thing left to do is buy nursing shoes, register, and get fitted.

I keep hearing that NS will be difficult, but in comparison to med school...it cant be that hard, right?

Same scenario here. I went in Monday to the store across from West Penn. She said I should receive the scrubs just before I need them in January. They came today. 4 day turn around with shipping. Good thing. I'm still waiting on my child abuse clearance. Anybody else?

At one point I called the office where they handle the child abuse clearances and they said that processing is taking a full three weeks. If you have not received it by three weeks, here's their number: 717-783-6211. They will be able to tell you if yours has been sent (and if so, when).

As far as nursing school being hard, it seems like they say everything is going to be hard. They said that about API, APII, Micro and I don't think that any of them lived up to the hype. I also heard from someone who is in nursing at another campus that in clinicals they don't really do a lot. So who knows?

Day programs receive study guides and other test info for the most part depending on course instructor

Some clinicals you work your tail off and learn, others are non productive depending on instructor

As far as program being easy or hard--------------it depends on YOU.... giving the effort.... some skate by each semester with a barely passing grade, others do well

You will lose people in the first couple weeks due to criminal checks not passing.... just because people start the program, does not mean that they will continue. It takes the nursing department weeks to go through everything.

I guess it pays to have a clean record :) I'm kind of glad that they winnow people out; I for one would not want a nurse or doctor who just skated by on a low "C."

Registered today, got all my classes but clinicals. There's a drug calc class on it? Wasn't expecting that. Thought it was just a test we took. Anyone else hear anything about it?

i also was there this morning for registration and i seen that drug calc i have no idea what that is and i was expected to be home by 3 and i have classes til 5! and they didnt even tell us what day our clinical will be on and i have to submit my work schedule. AGHHHH!

QUESTION??? Titers?? is that included in my physical?? i took my physical paper to my doctor and they gave me like 4 shots and i had to go back 2 weeks later for 1 more then they handed me that paper back so im not sure? any idea!?

I've read online that there is a lottery system or something when it comes to clinicals. I have to submit my work schedule as well. I'll ask when I register for classes tomorrow.

Kin7906:Titers are blood tests to check your immunity for certain diseases you've been vaccinated for in the past (ex: MMR). I did mine at the health dept before Thanksgiving and just got my results last week. They took my blood and sent it to a lab for processing. It was $15/titer. We have 5 titers that we need done. Theres some stuff on the front page of your physical exam form.

*LIG, seems like they weed a ton of people out...about 50% cut rate each class...wow.

Meowmixer-I know we have drug calc tests, regularly. If you dont pass one the first time, they let it go, but the second time you dont pass, you get kicked out of the program (or so I read from this website). They must have a little mini class on it? I would think one would be fine if algebra basics were mastered?

aye, it's 2 hours a week all semester. Just wasn't expecting it, it has to be new. I already took a 3 credit drug calc class that won't transfer because it's a nursing credit and i guess i'm just a little burnt out on it :) i was under the impression we got a packet to learn it and had to test on it before starting the program.

well, at least it'll be super easy for you!!
