CCAC Spring 2011

Just wondering if anyone else on here has applied to CCAC for the spring 2011 semester?

The way our program worked was that at the beginning of each semester, there is a drug calculation test. It is worth 25 points, and you can only miss 2. If you miss more, you get 1 more chance to take it. At that point, if you fail it, you are out of the program. For us, there was no class and you buy the book and learn on your own.

I know the faculty had been talking about new classes having a class, so it might have changed for the new students starting in 2011.

As far as clinicals go for RoseanneMartin------- at Boyce, names are drawn out of a bag and you get to chose your clinical days in the order you were picked. The faculty will tell you the available days and you get to chose between them. So, you may get your wanted times or not. Also, when you picked your days, they do not tell you at what location.............

Don't forget guys you only have until Saturday to get your drug test, is has to be done this week and most places want an appointment! :)

Concentra in Oakland does not require an appointment, fyi

ok! finally decided on the Littmann cardiology iii :) Couldn't decide forever, i would have loved to go to the typical classic littmann but i have a bit of hearing loss from a couple years back. I worked in a picu for awhile and since i want to go back to peds when i graduate and it has both the adult and peds head it should also help me in clinicals, after some research i believe the master cardio will give me some peds trouble because the head is a bit big. btw ty jason for the heads up on the allheart.com sale.

No problem. I was given a cardiology III as well, in the chocolate color. And IMO it works just as well as the other-- at least to my untrained ear :)

There is a pharmaceutical math class at the south campus, but it will conflict with most daytime nursing students schedules. How many of you have registered for your nursing classes? I'm in the Allegheny day classes, and I have clinical on Tuesday morning.

I just got my fingerprinting, CPR certification, and drug screening back. I have my physical and titers, now all I'm waiting on is my child-line check. It is truly nerve wracking that I'm still waiting on anything at this point.

I had a form that my doctor gave me for my drug test, and blood tests for various things, and I got right in and out in an hour with quest labs without an appointment. I had my results within a few days.

BTW: are there any other guys lurking around here who are going to be in the Allegheny nursing program? I know there are usually 5 or 6 per program. Hope I'm not the only one lol

guess not lol. oh well. :)

I want to congratulate all of you for being accepted into the nursing program! It's very challenging, but as long as you stay on top of your game you'll be fine! I remember the anxiety I had waiting 5 long months to get an acceptance letter, and then the excitement I had when I was finally accepted! I start my final semester next month, and it's a different kind of excitement because I'm nervous as well! If you have any questions, I'll do my best to answer them. Try to enjoy your winter break!

Thanks for the encouragement and the offer of assitance, Tokidoki!

You guess get your NRN101 packets yet? They are available in the campus bookstore...there are sample drug calc questions to, fyi.

:)

Out of curiosity, when choosing your schedule from the lottery system does that apply to the entire year (NRN101 and NRN102) or just the first semester (NRN101)?
