My hospital is saying that if nurses get COVID, it is not from the hospital. The hospital isn't responsible. It's our co-workers, our family, ourselves, but not the hospital. It is safer to be at the hospital than anywhere else. Cannon Fodder. That's exactly what we are. This literally makes me sick to my stomach ?

Dec 3, 2020 I think it would be very hard to prove it was from work because we are all wearing masks/goggles, etc whether COVI+ or COVID -. It is so wide spread in the community it would be difficult to say if a coworker gave it to youor was it in the grocery store

They are saying we get it from others, outside the hospital, and there is no possible way we get it from the workplace. Then they are delusional. That being said, proving, at this point, that you got it at work really would be impossible. Community spread is so far and wide that the idea that you got it from work would be validly questionable.

Dec 4, 2020 Sounds like a way to deflect unemployment claims or OJT worker's comp but it's absolutely impossible to prove that. Either way. That's nuts. And I bet it doesn't stand up when someone challenges it....

When you were told this; how did you stop the hysterical laughter at such lunacy you must have felt?
DesiDani 742 Posts Dec 5, 2020 A coworker, said our healthcare nurse got mad at her for saying that her possible exposure was from work. The HCN wanted her to retract her claim. I told her that that HCN just didn't want to deal with paperwork and she is likely overwhelmed with the COVID. She is going to find any way to lessen her workload.
Guest219794 2,453 Posts Dec 5, 2020 For those surprised- this is very common. The irony is that to go to work, I have to attest to the fact that, outside of work, my exposure is limited, and my behavior is responsible. In other words, when they let me through the door, it is because my risk of community transmission is minimal. OTOH- maybe they read this forum, and find the nurses who think precautions are pointless.
