BTW, some members here over the course of several years and thousands of posts have never acknowledged the Democrats doing anything wrong, ever.

You maybe want to consider that before agreeing with anyone.

I think we can still agree with a poster that never acknowledges wrongdoing by Democrats if they say something we agree with.

I do think it's natural for a particular side to mostly post against the other side.  You do this often but do have to grace to acknowledge when something it wrong but usually only when we bring it up. That's okay I don't think I make a post where I'm disapproving of what Democrats are doing, but I also think I have the grace to acknowledge when things are wrong when pointed out to me.

But you're right sometimes instead of just saying "this is wrong the poster(s) deflect to...well Trump....." and never acknowledge the wrongdoing (like I said we endured the "but Obama...." era so it's a cycle).

Wow!!

Deflection and whataboutism in the same sentence. ??

"Make America Proud Again"   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It_Can't_Happen_Here

Wow!

Deflecting by accusing me of deflecting.  ??

And, you didn't post my whole comment.

I addressed what the member said, then added the comment that you did include.

That's not deflection.

The book sounds interesting.   Not sure of its relevance.  I believe Tweety started a movie a book thread somewhere here.  You might want to check it out.

The book describes one possible scenario that centers on an authoritarian take-over of the United States. And you know that.

Disingenuous much?

I know that, but for some reason you felt the need to explain it?

Once again, neither the other member's original comment or your add-ons were intended to illicit any kind of legitimate discussion.

Unfortunately, though we (and others) had hoped that the military would only respond to calls to action in American cities and states kicking and screaming, we no longer expect resistance from that institution. Once, perhaps, traditionalist officers ...

I read a gift link that I cannot share.  I'm hoping that a moderator or another member might have a subscription and gift the thread this article.

I would posit that Trump and his advisors expect this to escalate because escalation creates their justification for their version of a police state and a restriction of freedoms for large groups of people for fabricated reasons.  Chaos and conflict are their calling cards.

So Trump has just legitimised Putin and got nothing in return.

Why did Trump not arrest Putin when he was on American soil?

Yes, I know USA is not a member of the ICC.

It's going to be interesting to see how the Trump supporters spin this. He was supposed to finish the war in 24 hours but he can't really count (as was proven with his nonsense about bringing prices down by 1500%) so maybe he is unsure what is longer - 24 hours or 8 months. The 24 is a larger number than the 8 so maybe he got confused.

But you don't want legitimate discussion, you just want to "own the libs" or "it's antifa" or it's "her emails" or it's "Hunter Bidens laptop" or "Joe Biden did it".

Well, to keep this short and sweet I'll just point out I've never used the term "antifa" in my life.

So, it seems you really know nothing about me or what and how I discuss things.

Russia has already released a video that makes Trump look like a foolish old Putin fan boy who is easily manipulated by flattery.  We know that Putin had some hard asks from Trump when Trump doesn't want to boast about his deal making in a presser.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who wonders about the desire for legitimate discussion from the members who sidetrack and sabotage discussion at every possible inflection point.
