Wound Care Specialty Question

Hi Everyone

Have just recently graduated w/ a BSN and am starting to think about areas I might want to specialize in &/or become certified. Wound care interests me but am concerned how WCNs deal with smells from ostomies. (Fecal matter is the odor I have the biggest problem with.) Do you get used to it? Are there tricks to minimize the odors?

Also, does the wound care certification cover burn care? If not, is burn care a totally separate training and certification?

Any suggestions for me on where/when to seek training for either or both of the above. I'm older and would rather not wait a few years before getting training. Does anyone see a problem with just jumping right about 9 months or so after passing NCLEX?

Thanks so much!
