Confused and could use some advice/thoughts

U.S.A. Washington

Published

Hi all! So I love the idea of moving to Seattle or anywhere in Washington really. I don't mind the rain/ weather stuff. I have a friend moving to Portland next year and that's not really my bag but Washington is lovely and a place I've always been interested in. Question. I have read that it is REALLY hard to make friends in Washington.... Is this true? Anyone move from another state and have a problem " fitting in". Also I know everyone complains about the low pay and high cost of living and I completely agree that needs to be fixed, but does that make it impossible to live on? I'm single and would need to be able afford rent/ bills ( as an RN). Let me know your thoughts if you can. Thanks a lot!

Hi yadda_yadda_yadda. Thanks for the response. Where exactly Is Monroe? Also how far away it is? Glad that you are enjoying it there. At the beginning of this thread I said I would be coming as an RN but I'm thinking I'll probably do the bridge there when I finish with my LPN school rather than do it here ( just sick of being here). Anyway what's an average wage for LPNs out there in your area? Also is it at a hospital or a facility? Anyway thanks again for your response.

I came from Texas to Edmonds which is a small town north of Seattle. You would have to pull me away from this area with a truck. I love it here. Cost of living can be high but from what my coworkers tell me apartment rents are not that much more that what one would pay in Houston where I am from. Now, as for buying a house, get ready for sticker shock!!! I could have three houses in Texas for what we paid for one here. If you are single and thinking about buying you can get some good deals on condos and townhomes, especially now. Housing prices are dropping here right now. It is the right time to buy if you can afford it.

Where are you planning to work?:D
