Anyone else here entering the EvCC program

U.S.A. Washington

I just received my acceptance letter from Everett Community College for the spring quarter start. Is anyone else here going to be starting spring quarter? If anyone has any tips that would be awesome! My orientation is the 19th. of feb. I am so excited! :lol2::lol2::lol2:

Hey, was it tough to get into the UW BSN, are you doing it in Seattle or Bothell? Thanks again for the advice :)

Hi, not really tough to get into the BSN program. I am attending Bothell campus of UW. Application, some type of letter, why you want to go or something like that about your character. They do a background check, immunizations, transcripts, the usual. No interview though. They give you 45 credits for passing the NCLEX so that was cool. I think you need fairly good grades from nursing school, but I was not an A student in nursing school. I got some A's, B's and one sememster a C!!!!

Oh yea about your NCLEX, while you are in nursing school, at the end of each semester you have to pass a test ( I can not remember the name) it is supposed to prepare you for the NCLEX. It is taken on the computer, with your whole class with an instructor watching so you do not cheat........ Anyway you have to pass by 80% at that time. If you do not then you are able to retake the test, open book at home but have to pass at 90%. The school gives you a book and CD to practice questions out of, etc. It really is important because when you go take the NCLEX, it is intense. I would suggest you use these books and CD's to practice when you have time and especially on breaks, otherwise you may forget stuff, at least I did. The books and CD's coordinate with what you are learning in that sememster.

Good Luck!!:clown: I am excited for you!!

Im doing pre requistes can anyone tell me what gpa they had to get in this year 2010 i hear its getting tougher and tougher to get in!

Please let us know! Besides grades do they look at anything else?

Did anyone get in with Bs?

Oh i wanted to ask you "Memories"

did you take any other classes besides the prerequistes?

like chemistry or nutrition or math?

does it help to have more classes or just have pre requistes that are As?

I dont make much money so i dont wanna waste time on classes i dont need!

Please let me know what future nurses got in and what kind of grades they had etc...?

:):):):)

Have fun on your journey to becoming a nurse

Maybe it is tougher to get in now. But like I said before I didnot have all A's. Look at my prior post for my grades. Write a good letter of intent, and try your best at the grades, but mostly make yourself known there with Karen Preston and others if you can. Also in your interview SMILE!!!!! Look them in the eye when you respond. Feel very confident!! Good luck to you all. Have fun and enjoy nursing school.:nurse:

Hi guys- I'm wonderng how school is going? The application deadline was two weeks ago tomorrow and I'm sitting on pins and needles waiting to hear something. I'm not feeling super confident because I was told there were so many applications. I do know I couldn't have gotten any better grades, so hopefully if I don't get in this time I will for Winter.

Hope things are going good for you guys that started.. I'm interested to hear how it's going..

Susan

Oh yeah, I was wondering how long after the deadline you got the call? Karen Preston said they may not do interviews this quarter... does anyone know why??? (she told a classmate of mine this, not me personally)...

Rachelle! I just noticed you had posted! I usually get a notice in my email box when anything new is posted to this thread. It appears several posts have been made that I missed.

Susan, classes are going better than I had even hoped for. The instructors are very supportive and really encourage us to succeed. I love it here. My classmates are awesome. Yes, it is hectic, and at times overwhelming, but it is very doable. Brasfield and Wilner are amazing instructors for first quarter.

Regarding the interviews, I haven't heard much. They called us about 2 weeks and a few days after deadline last time. Since they don't teach over the summer they might wait a bit to call for interviews. I will check with a few people when I go back in on Monday. Maybe someone will have heard something. I know it is really hard to wait.

Oh, I think someone asked if I took any extra classes or just the requirements. I did not take anything extra because we were really tight on money and I don't qualify for any assistance. It is possible to get into the program without doing the extras.

Hope this helps a little. I will post again with any info I find out on Monday.

Hey Susan, Memories is right? (hmmm still wondering who is Memories in my class haha) I will find out! It is the best program and we have a lot of help to succeed :) I waited about three weeks for my scheduled interview.

I hope you get into the program :)

Rachelle

Thanks Rachelle! Funny, I think we're both on here at the same time ;)

I'm waiting on pins and needles!! Won't be a huge deal if I have to wait until Winter Quarter, but it would be nice to get started! It feels like this has been a loooooonnnggg time coming!!

Our8kids: I didn't want you to think I had forgotten you! I have been asking around but none of the other students have heard anything about when the interviews for fall quarter will take place. I will be in the lab tomorrow and will see if anyone there is willing to divulge any info. :)

Oh you're sweet~ I'm trying not to stress about it... but tomorrow it's been 3 weeks!!! Ahh!! Really, I'm either in or I'm not... nothing I can do about it now ;) Nobody in micro is talking... lol, which cracks me up. But last I "heard" nobody had heard anything. I figure at least one of us out of class will make it in.. Not sure how many applied for fall though... I'll be quiet now, I'm just rambling ;)
