Howard University Spring/Summer 2013

U.S.A. Washington DC

Are there any students applying to Howard University for the spring/summer 2013? If so, has anyone heard anything from admissions? I sent my application in August and haven't heard a thing from them since. Good thing I used certified mail or else I would've assumed it was never received.

I haven't applied yet . I was waiting for spring 2014. Trying to pull my GPA up

I was denied from a other women school due to my GPA. 9 years ago i was having alot of problems in my life and therefore didn't so good in school which is holding me back now. So there's no way of getting around that.

I was accepted ; however, I turned it down due to my initial experience with admissions. I found out after I started Towson's Nursing program and absolutely love it, although it's tough the environment and support is awesome. I thought it through for a couple of days before turning it down and knew I had an option of quitting Towson with full refund and waiting for the summer to start Howard but its just not worth it. The wait to find out that I was accepted or not was from August 1-January 28. That is totally uncalled for. When the lady called me to let me know I was accepted she was rude, just as others before her. My letter was incorrect, they had someone else's college listed on my letter and told me I have to take a family studies and two other courses before starting in the summer, which was totally incorrect. I hope you'll have a better experience than I had, I will NOT consider Howard for any of my educational pursuits.

Hi! I am currently a senior in the nursing program at Howard University. Although everyone experiences their fair share of administrative issues, the program is run by some extraordinary people. The faculty here really care about the success of their students, and while its reputation may not seem the best, especially compared to some of the other surrounding schools in the district, I feel as though I will be graduating from a school I can literally say helped me develop into a young woman. I've been through a lot of drama (for lack of better terms) with this program, but ultimately the problems are rooted from minimal staffing. Despite its limitations, the faculty compensate by working together and making sure student needs are met. Also, being of an ethic minority myself, gaining guidance from other minorities who strive for success in educational advancement, helps me walk away from Howard University nursing program saying "I was a part of something great!"

Regardless of which nursing program you choose to enroll in, my only advise is that to keep in mind that nursing education is hard, vast, and condensed. Often students enroll, and then complain about how hard it is, and then turn around and say its the fault of the program. If you go into it expecting to work hard, you should be fine:)

No TEAS is required.

Under grad Admission is a mess...they lose everything & I mean EVERYTHING!

Their under grad admission office is going to drive u up the wall. The most disorganized and messy place ever. It never changes yr after yr I hear pple say the same exact thing.

If ur going for the BSN nursing program their classes start in summer with Patho & Health Assesment classes. U have to pay $5,000 out of pocket cuz there is no financial aid offered in summer and guess what in 5 wks Patho is going to be the most challenging thing u have experienced and health Assesment is very manageable but Patho is not they accept around 50-90 students 50 is actual acceptance the other 40 students r from the yr before coming back to try Patho again guess what from the total of 90 students 5 pple passed Patho thats what I heard.... Bad news right yea keep this into consederation before u enroll.

Patho in 5 wks is not a good idea I think in my opinion its a quick cash for the school cuz multiply $5,000 x 90 students.....yep that's what I mean u need to do critical thinking before making decision.

Good luck in ur studies!

Nursing is a wonderful field!
