Georgetown U's nursing program

I am interested in Georgetown's nursing programs, specifically the

Direct Entry to Advanced Practice (Combined Second Degree BSN/MSN).

Anyone here familiar with it?

Yes, I am taking my pre-reqs to apply to GU accelerated second degree BSN program. The program is phenomenal. I would highly recommend going to an information session. My plans are to apply to the Direct Entry Program however, I am a little hesitatant because I read that NPs with no experience, gets no respect. Not to mention, I am not for certain which area of NP I would like to specialize in. Good Luck!

Although theoretically a good idea, be sure to approach it with open eyes. Post graduation job prospects for NP's in the dc/metro area usually require SOME experience as an RN in the desired field of practice. You may have to take a staff job at the bedside for some time before being able to get hired as an APN. Definitely if you want to work in acute care. Georgetown is an excellent university overall and the nursing program is no exception, but as a previous poster mentioned the bedside nurse in acute care will give you static if you are inexperienced and newly minted regardless of what the sheepskin says.;)

And on a personal note- there is no direct entry into this or any other CRNA program in the nation. So if this is the field you are looking to get into, please go to the pre-CRNA board to find out what this field of APN's requires for entry.
