Georgetown U Hospital RN Residency

U.S.A. Washington DC

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to start this for the Winter 2013 new grad program at Georgetown University Hospital. I submitted my application and was invited to take the battery which I completed on Wednesday. Has anyone heard further from them? Or know how many positions or people applying? I'm super interested in the program but it's been so discouraging lately!

Hi guys! Just called the Nurse Recruitment office to check on the status of our applications. They are no longer accepting any new applications and they have a little over 400 applicants in total :nailbiting:! This is probably because they accepted both 2012 fall AND spring graduated this time instead of only fall graduates. They have just started the process of reviewing the applications, and we should expect to hear back form them with in 2-4 weeks. Ahhh, so nervous. Does anyone know what units they want to apply to yet?

Hi guys! I remember reading in the job post that if we are chosen to go forward for the interviews, the packet consists of resume, letters of recommendation, transcripts, and BLS etc. I don't remember what units are available, but hopefully we can hear from them soon!

Thanks for sharing!!! I'm nervous too!! I really want to interview for LnD but anything maternal health would be fine with me!! What about you??

Hey! It was great reading all your guys comments. I just moved up here and applied to the residency program and it would be amazing to get in, but we will see what happens. I finished nursing school in Aug in Charleston, SC and then my husband was reassigned up here so I ended up even taking my NCLEX up here too. It's bad enough being a new grad, but to try to do it in a completely unfamiliar territory is not what I call a good time. I'm not in any rush to get just any job, I either want ICU/ER/ or something working with the military if this residency program doesn't pan out. I did receive the battery quiz, so I hope that means a step in the right direction. Well, here's to good luck for us all, and may we possibly meet in February :)

I too have applied to the Georgetown New Nurse Residency program! Glad to see others have too! I'll keep everyone updated if I hear anything!

Does anyone have any idea how many new grads they accept?

Check your emails everyone!!! I got this today:

After initial review of your online application and your Nursing Career Battery results, we are happy to notify you that you have qualified to move to the next phase of the application process!

Attached is the application packet for our Winter New Graduate Nurse Residency. Please send your entire application packet to our office in ONE PACKAGE as soon as it is complete. The final deadline for receipt of the packets is November 2nd. Once we receive your application, we will be in touch with you regarding your specialty area of interest and a potential interview. Interviews will be conducted through December and all candidates are required to have an in-person interview in order to be offered a position.

All New Graduate New Graduates that are under consideration for a Nurse Resident position at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital must commit to the following requirement:

“If I accept a position as a Nurse Resident at MGUH, I agree to a minimum of a full-time, 2 year, uninterrupted commitment on the unit for which I was hired.”

Unfortunately it looks as though the process is far from over, so fingers still crossed. Good luck to everyone.

Congrats! That's amazing! Good luck!

Hey all,

Just wondering- for those of you that interviewed already, did you hear back yet? I interviewed 2 weeks ago (thought it went pretty well) and no response yet :/ I left a voicemail asking for a status update and emailed them and still nothing. Anyone else dealing with this?

I haven't even interviewed yet!
