Average salary for travel nurses?

Hello travel nurses,

I am in the process of studying for the NCLEX and I have always been curious about travel nursing. I think the best way to get information is to ask the travelers themselves.

What is the average salary? Any bonuses?

Any experience required?

What are the chances you get the assignments you ask for?

On a scale of 1-10 how much control do you have regarding living arrangements/location?

Any negatives about travel nursing?

Any information would be great. Thanks.:D

Specializes in ICU.

The average salary depends on your location and specialty. You get paid less(most of the time) in the South, than say you would in Northern California.

Most companies required 1 year experience in your specialty before you travel. . . lots of hospitals however, require 2 before they will hire you.

Different companies = Different bonuses.
