UTHSCSA-Summer 2013 Accelerated

U.S.A. Texas

Hello All, I am not sure if a thread has already started for the Bacc2 program, but I wanted to stay updated on the status of all the hopefuls out here. The deadline is soon approaching so hopefully I can stay patient during the wait.

I received the same email too saying that offers will be sent out before the holiday. If they have the previous year's decision out by Dec. 9, then, we might know their decision as early as next week..... the latest we should hear from them should be on or before the 20th (before the holiday break)...

I applied to 3 universities... I hope one of them will say yes... I am getting worried each day...

Basing from the previous profiles of their students... it seems to me that they are so picky with their candidates... I have not seen any foreign school listed...also, the ratio of Asian students is low compared to other nationalities.... i think my chances of getting in is getting smaller each passing day.... I'm worried..

I don't think your nationality is even part of the decision process.... Don't worry. I'm hoping we hear by Friday! *fingers crossed*

I checked with the school and they wanted a maximum of 300-350 words for each essay, in order to keep the font from getting too small to read. Mine were less than 200 words... not sure how many sentences though.

Oh Lordy... I had no clue we could use that many words... Now I am SERIOUSLY worried. I just checked and each essay I did was only about 150 words.

My emails are synced to my phone, so every time it buzzes I check to see if it is UTHSC haha. And hearing by Friday would be BEYOND awesome! Since they had to extend the application dates, I dont think they had enough student this time to let them be supper picky.

Also, do they send the supp app to everyone, or just those that meet their TEAS score min/GPA min?

I know they give the supplemental application to everyone. They just need to know if you are a Texas resident or not. Then, you pay $45. The supplemental application completes the paper work of your application before they sort out who is in or out. Hope that helps.

Thanks for words of encouragement Melissa1986. I will keep my fingers crossed too ...

You're welcome Nurse101010. I was wondering if any of you plan to work while in the program (if we get in, I mean). I am considering taking a PRN CNA job right now at a hospital to help save money before school, but I don't want to take the job and quit 5 or 6 months later. They require a minimum of 4 shifts per month (12HR night shifts).... I'm not sure what to do, because they called me yesterday to offer me the job. What do you guys think?

I checked the website. They did not extend their deadline like the UTMB. I am hoping they will have their decision out by tomorrow or next week... Please post as soon as you receive your email of invite...

Are you talking about UTHSCSA? They did extend their deadline until 12/3/12. I received an email fro NursingCAS about it, and I saw it on the school's website. I'm still hoping we hear by tomorrow, though :)

If I were you I will take the job. It is PRN so they do not really require you to be there every time they needed you. It helps in getting your mind off the waiting stress, plus additional income is beneficial to your wallet. If you needed to leave, most companies will not take it against you if your purpose is to further your studies. You might even get financial help from them. Most facilities have scholarships. As long as you work 1 shift a month, you can get financial help from them (they just do not tell that to you before they hire you because they do not want you to be working less, it defeats the purpose of why they are hiring you in the first place).

Yes I am talking about UTHSCSA... some schools like UTMB are extending their deadline to January. I checked UTHSCSA website and I saw no changes. Hope to hear from them tomorrow.

But they specifically said they require a minimum of 4 shifts per month. The issue right now is that I work full time M-F 9a-5p. This PRN job would be a 2nd job and its nights. The ONLY way to fit 4 night shifts per month right now is to commit to work every Saturday night. I'm just not sure....
