UTHSCSA Accelerated BSN Spring 2014 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi everybody! :)

I'm applying to UTHSCSA for Spring '14 (Accelerated Program). Who else is applying to the program??

Has anyone else taken the TEAs Exam yet? I took mine earlier today

:nailbiting:

Most people who work, only are doing so part time. There's only one person I know working full time, and he works friday evening and all day saturday and sunday. He's older so his kids are grown already. I have 3 stepkids under the age of 6 that my husband and I have every weekend, so I have not extra time to work. If we didn't have them, I think I could swing working a shift a week... maybe 2.

Oh wow December is a long time , but this program does not start til May of next year so I guess that's expected. I applied here too and graduated from UTSA last year. Good luck to everyone!!

Yay:) well good luck to us all, I'm sure December will be here before we know it!

Hello, Folks! My name is Zhanna. I'm applying to the accelerated program during this admission cycle.

I wonder if you would be interested in sharing info on incoming application and registration docs and news, e.g. supplemental applications, acceptance letters, and so on. Last year students created a very nice network/info exchange where they were posting their experiences and advice. I think it can be very useful and interesting.

I submitted all the required materials, including TEAS V test score a month prior to the app deadline on Nov 1. So far, the admission office at our Health Science Center has not been able to confirm that they received anything from me. Also they let me know that they are busy with regular Spring 2014 applicants so they have no time for the Accelerated program folks since we will start our semester later in spring. I hope they will be more cooperative and informative in the future. I wish we could submit all the stuff through NursingCAS, I had a very good experience with that place.

So, I call for your input guys to learn about progress our application and admission process!

Malissa, I'd like to thank you for your encouragement and info. That's so kind of you to take your time and share it. I wonder if I can ask you about the clinical component of the program. I looked through the class/practice schedule for the previous years and compared them for the regular and the accelerated programs. Seems like we are not going to have a lot of exposure to the clinicals. The number of hospital sites and the hours look very limited compare to the regular track. I worry since I have no direct work experience in the medical field (just years of volunteering and caring for sick relatives and friends). Do you feel like you have enough clinical time? What semester did you have your first clinical? I also noticed that the whole courses are missing in the accelerated track program, e.g. assessment and care for pregnant women. I wonder if they are somehow incorporated in other classes you have??? Thank You in advance!

Hey everyone! I applied for the 2nd degree program and wanted to see if anyone has received an email about the supplemental application or about anything! Thanks!

Hey there, I received an email on Thurs saying they will be sending supplemental apps out 11/11-15 via email.

I got an email today that I was rejected because I did not meet the minimum cumulative GPA (2.5) oh wells on to the next one

Best wishes to everyone!

Hi everyone! I am also applying to the UTHSCSA Accelerated Spring 2014 program. I haven't received anything yet except for the notification about supplemental applications coming out this week (11/11-11/15).

So I am just here anxiously awaiting!

Aw jennytmuw I'm sorry to hear that:/ what other places did you apply?

Awesome dnhernandez87! I'm really anxious to see what types of questions are on that supplemental application

Hi! Yeea I applied to five other schools. I got accepted to TWU but I denied them because it's 2 years. I was not accepted at Texas Tech University in Austin but accepted to Texas Tech in El Paso. I'm wanting to go to University of Houston now but I will not know til December. I also applied to UTMB's summer start - no response from them so far. I just have to keep on this waiting game :nailbiting:

Good luck with your future endeavors :)
