What classes will you not have? It's based on points so if you don't have all the classes in, you'll have fewer points which might not be a good thing. I'm sure there are ppl who get in w/o having all their classes done but it's a chance you're taking.

I think I'm dumb but I cannot find the Facebook group. I type it in the search box but only other groups pop up.

I was one of those students who got in but did not finish the core curriculum, but I think I was able to get in because my grades weren't super bad. Either that or, as nursingstudent9 suggested, there were less applicants. If you are within 15 hours of completing your pre-reqs, then you have a chance of getting in. hopeful_st is right though; your points will be less than someone who finished all their pre-reqs.

Regarding the TEAS, I don't know if anyone had a lower score on than what's required for the reading and math section and successfully got into the program, but if he/she did, then I'm sure he/she got in because they had an awesome GPA and/or they finished all of their pre-reqs.

I have yet to take my science core classes. I will take them this year and try to take them before I apply in September for the accelerated program. But yesterday I picked up my transcript from Brookhaven community college and I was reminded of my f's. I hAve retaken those failing classes And passed them. Has anyone else received an f and been accepted to the nursing program?

I'm curious to know what y'all did before applying to the accelerated program. I am currently teaching 3rd grade. I've been teaching for 5 years.

I have never made an F. If you have many F's, just retake the class and pass it. As long as you pass your pre-reqs and maintain a minimum of 2.75 GPA, they'll consider you. I haven't heard of anyone getting into the program with a GPA less than that.

No haven't received any F's either. But yeah as long as you retook them I think it's okay. Don't quote me though.

OK! So I went to Tyler today to meet with my advisor and check out the campus. Everyone was really nice and the campus itself wasn't bad...just the rest of Tyler is wayyyy different and old. It's definitely going to take me getting used to.
I was also told to stay away from Cambridge and Varsity apartments because of the crime. And also was told that The Reserve apts were good, but didn't have time to check them out. University Pines are on campus and look to be decent, but did seem kind of pricey to me.
I got prices for the level 1 nursing textbook packages and they are insane! $697.91 for the textbook+ebook package. And $394.61 for the ebook package. These packages will be updated so prices might may not be exact, but close enough to get an idea.

    Hope this helped!

To be honest with you I received 2 D's in my chemistry class on my first two tries, it does hurt you because Tyler goes on the point system. For every time you fail a class they take off a point, but you can easily make up for it with your TEAS test score! I recommend you making an appointment with the advisor there. When I came she literally took out the grading sheet and scored me right there. Its a different paper than what they show us online. It also showed me different classes I could retake or take extra (humanities) to boost my point standing. I didn't get in for fall with 72 points, but I got in this time I think with 78points.

Thanks for telling us about Tyler, it helped me get an idea of what the campus looked like.

I emailed my adviser about books and she ended up forwarding my email to the instructors but no one has emailed me about textbooks. I found the Fall 2012 syllabus for Nursing Competencies and I read that we needed "Electronic version of textbooks to load onto your portable device (available in the book package in the bookstore)." I was wondering if we really do need electronic versions of our textbooks because if so, I might as well just get the ebooks.

So the documents are textbooks that we need for Spring? Thanks for uploading this for us! I have been trying to get a response from instructors and my adviser about my textbooks so that I could get them from third parties.

I actually can't buy the textbook package because I have already taken Pharmacology. If it's not required to buy electronic versions of textbooks then I'll definitely buy my textbooks from third parties.
