Texas Tech BSN 2 Spring 2013

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi,

I wanted to start a topic for the Spring 2013 applicants for the Texas Tech Second BSN program. Somewhere we can keep each other posted on the process as it nears. I have yet to take the TEAS V but i wonder if anyone else has taken it and what their score was. I have calculated my gpa's and i realize i will have a 3.59 pre-req gpa and a 3.66 science gpa. I am going to apply for the 2013 accelerated program and am very nervous about the upcoming process.

If you look at the upper right side there is a message. It has a link to last year's cohort and this year's as well. You can click on that link and join there.

Thanks!

MntLion512, Hi, I think we met at the interview. I was wearing black pants with a black blazer. I am so happy we both go in (assuming you were the one in the green dress). If not...ignore me.

I think you said that you worked with a few people in the program. I am wondering if they are interested in selling their books. Don't go out of your way or anything, but if it comes up...I am definitely interested!

Again CONGRATS!!!

ACCEPTED TO EL PASO- WITHOUT APPLYING!

Weirdest thing! I got an email saying I had been accepted to EP based on my Austin interview (not accepted, not sure why) but I MUST move to El Paso? Has anyone else received one of these emails? I would imagine El Paso, which accepts 40 out of 140 would have its own waitlist...??? Any insight?

I am planning on applying for the spring 2014 cohort in Austin, can anyone give me the 411 on the emphasis placed on volunteer work when applying? Between school and working as a CNA for experience it leaves little time for volunteer work.

I had zero volunteer work. I know several others that had no volunteer work as well. As long as you have experience

you should be fine.

@ Medtechtocrna Thanks so much for the info! Can't wait to hear how things go for ya'll this year. :)

It is intense. We have a great class and we all seem to want to help each other.

We have started clinical shifts and we are trading interesting stories and interventions.

Spring Break starts today!

Its great that ya'll have a good class and people wanting to help each other. Do you know how many people applied and how many got accepted for this cohort? I'm so nervous about it being so competitive. What are the online classes like? Are they tough?

I've never taken an online class, all of my courses have been in a classroom so not sure how I will adjust to that.

I think 110-120 applied, 70-75 or so were interviewed, and 40 were accepted. Our cohort is 39. Not having any online class experience may be a disadvantage since the classes are very fast-paced and tough, and require you to be a self-starter and VERY organized.

Hi Everyone: I had a question in regards to how the classes and practicums/clinicals are done. Any idea how it's usually scheduled? I have read that you have your classes online and then 2 days at the hospital, but are those days scheduled far in advanced and can they be any day of the week? Any information is helpful at this point. Thanks!

What was the average years of medical experience for your class ? If I have 4-5 months of medical volunteer and work experience before the applying, will this still make me a competitive candidate?
