Hello all soon to be student nurses! I will graduate from this program in May, counting down the remaining 44 days. Just thought I would pop in and share. Ok, Biggest tip I can give you all, here it is. When you finish your first semester, you MUST start to apply for tech/unit secretary jobs at hospitals. You will be told during orientation that there is no way to work full time or even work at all during this program. That is a bunch of BULL!!! Having a ADN and no hospital experience will make finding a job very difficult for you. You need to get your foot in the door ASAP because internal applicants will be the first to get jobs. Just thought I'd share. I think you all have chosen a great program!!! Good luck to you all!!!

Thanks for the tip! I can back this up 100%. I won't be starting the program until the fall, but I work in a hospital and definitely see the majority of jobs going to internal applicants. It's definitely important to get in while you can!

Great advice ! I am still debating ADN vs BSN. I don't mind ADN b/c I'll start working towards my online BSN as soon as I can, but I've read horror stories of people who can't find anything.
I'm currently trying to get on, in any capacity, in a hospital. No prior experience. Will start nursing school in Spring. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks !

Apply, apply, apply! It also helps if you know somebody in the hospital. I applied to tons of jobs and then my friend got a job at a hospital. I applied for 2 jobs and put down that she referred me and got called for interviews for both and got offered both

Hey y'all! So I am applying for Spring 2014 RN program...I made a 92 cumulative score on my Hesi and only have 2 more science classes to take. If I make all A's on my 4 science courses what do you think my chances are of getting in? I'm soo nervous!

Hi y'all ! I am new to this site . So I am applying to the RN program Spring 2014. I made a 92 on my HESI and have only 2 more science classes to take before I can apply. I already have 2 A's, if I make A's on the next two science courses what do you think my chances are of getting in? Should I retake my HESI for a higher score?

Welcome! If you continue to make A's and have a 4.0 science GPA then I would say a 92 on the HESI is perfectly fine you should have no trouble getting into the program.

    Good luck!

I hope to start job searching soon. My baby is almost 1 so I am doing the stay at home mom/student gig right now. I have had reservations about an ADN program too. I too will immediately roll into a full time BSN program and then hopefully into a graduate program. I am really interested in TCU's pediatric CNS program. Of course that is my dream, baby steps right now! Let me just get through this semester.

Nope, no emails for me. I don't think they send any emails except to let you know whether you we're accepted into the program or not.
