Teas 6 Test This Thursday

  1. 0 Hello everyone! I am taking my TEAS 6 exam this Thursday morning and I'm so nervous! I've read people failing and I've read some people has done great!

I've been studying for a month using the Momentrix Study Book. For my program, we must score a 58% or better for the ADN. Along with the TEAS, we must complete our Pre-Reqs with a C or better in anatomy and physiology (I have a B), Psychology (I have an A), and English (I have an A). Of course the program is very competitive. So I'm highly nervous!

I have taken practice tests. First practice I scored a 75 and the second practice I scored an 82. So I can see I'm improving. For those that has already taken the TEAS, how was it? Is there anything in particlular I should focus heavy on studying? Did you score higher on the actual exam vs. the practice exams? I'm full of questions! Maybe I'm just trying to find a way to help myself relax. Thanks guys! If you guys would like, I will post my experience as soon as I'm done with my test Thursday!

Fingers crossed I make at least an 80

I scored a little higher on the actual exam than i did on the practice.

And if you haven't done so already, consider going back through your practice exams and see what you scored lowest on. If you can focus on your weak areas in the time you have left, you might be able to boost your score.

    Good luck!

Thank you for replying back! If you don't mind me asking, what did you score on practice and the actual?

Don't study tomorrow either! Take a day to yourself and RELAX. That helped me when I took my NCLEX. You've studied hard thus far so take a day to unwind. Light review the morning of the exam and you will be fine!

the online study guide is amazing, it gives you the materials to know, instead of the book telling you what you should know.....it does only come as a package with the book and the two practice test.

it's pricey, but worth it if your really shaky on your material like i was...

I just took the TEAS V today. I did not find it all that difficult, but was completely stressed about the math. In the end, helping my 12-year-old son with his math homework was probably the most helpful thing I've done, in terms of preparation. The book I used was pretty good there. There was much less straight-up algebra than I anticipated (3 questions, maybe) and more with fractions and percentages, and expressing them as a decimal. The best advice I can give you is to check your work, think about whether the answer makes sense and read carefully. I got a 96 in math, and I LOATHE math.

I ended up with an 86 overall, which put me in the 96th percentile.

I'm planning on taking the A&P test through Excelsior since I took my original class too long ago, and can see how having it fresher in my mind would have helped. I bought the Mometrix "Secrets" book on Amazon, and just used that. There were definitely some science questions I took an educated guess at, and I certainly could have used a little more review there. I ended up with a 72 in that section, which was enough to put me in the 83rd percentile. That was essentially relying on my memory and common sense.

Science-wise, the emphasis appeared to be on the endocrine and cardiovascular systems. There also appeared to be more than a couple of questions about skin and it's layers. If you're shaky, focus there.

As far as the English goes, know the parts of language. What's an adverb? Things like that. That being said, I didn't study for that (again, I was too busy freaking out about math) and got a 95.

    Good luck.
