Hi All...

:uhoh3: I am having such a hard time trying to figure out how to become a Private Duty Nurse in NY. I was currently working with a patient through an agency and he had to be hospitalized. The patient is waiting for approval to leave the hospital and the parents have requested for me to work privately for them. I don't know about anyone else but I an so confused with this process. I have received my NPI and filled out the medicaid application. What is the next step? I'm confused on how I document when i go privately? Is there anyone I can contact that can help me with this transition.

:confused: Please any and all in put will be greatly appreciated :confused:

Specializes in Hospice / Ambulatory Clinic.

The first thing I would look at is your employment contract with your current agency. It may say that you can not work for the client for 6-12months. I would tred carefully here. The last thing you want is to have the agency come at your for $$$$ compensation.

Other than that good luck. For documentation I would document just as you do for the agency.
