Azusa Pacific ELM Chat 2014

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hi Guys!!

So I've been thinking about applying for the ELM program at APU. I've seen the NUMEROUS threads about applying and getting accepted into the program but nothing about what life was like after admission (unless I've missed it). The program looks attractive outside of the fact that its in California (i've never been to CA and it's SOO far away 30+ hours) I'd like to know, from current or former students of this program: What was it like? If you're like me and not from California, how well did you adjust? How did/do you feel about the program and the education you received, do you feel prepared for life as a nurse? What specialty did you choose? How long did it take you to finish the program? Which location did you attend, where'd you live? How'd you pay for it? If you had financial aid did it suffice or did you have to take out more loans/work? Speaking of work, how was your school to regular life balance? How were your clinicals? What was a typical week for you? Is there something that you wish you'd known before the program? What advice would you give to those entering the program? etc...

Of course you don't have to answer ALL of these but these were just some things I was thinking about and thought would help another prospective student also. I'm sure the answer to some of these questions are buried deep within the Nervous Nancy "did i get accepted" posts but I thought it'd be cool to have something separate from that. No GPA/acceptance talk just plain 'ol What Happened Next!? talk.

Thanks in advance for whatever you choose to share :)
