Interview Advice Needed Quickly!

Specialties Ob/Gyn

Published

I've been a med/surg RN for the last 3 years, since I graduated. It was the first job I was offered.

I interviewed a couple of weeks ago for an OB/Maternity service position that I've wanted since I did my management capstone in OB. The interview lasted 2.5 hours. I left feeling good. An acquaintance of mine is an RN on the floor and says almost no-one ever gets called back for a peer-interview. I was!

Today is the interview and I'm nervous as heck. This is my dream job (I didn't want it when I started school, I wanted nothing to do with Maternity/OB, but my clinicals and capstone changed my mind).

Any suggestions for a good peer interview? The funny thing is, I'm on the peer interview committee for my hospital's Med/surg units and I'm still nervous about this.

Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Sorry I have no advice, but let us know how it goes! My only advice is try to relax, sounds like they really liked you the first time

It went well, I think. We talked for about 30-40 minutes and I liked everything they said. I hope they liked what I said and know I am truly hoping for this position. The manager's assistant says I should hear from them by the end of next week. The hospital just changed the way they hire and they now do background checks first.

Have you heard anything back yet?

Have you heard anything back yet?

Yes, sort of. I had a third interview and then a 6 hour shadow yesterday. It would appear, from the way everyone I met was talking, that I should have a job offer soon.
