A job while on TPAPN

Nurses Recovery

Specializes in ER.

I am in the peer assistance program here in Texas. I cannot find a job. I have 7+ years in ER/Trauma, I had an interview today, but they called to cancel it, stating there was a problem with my application and she could not reschedule at this time. I know I made a mistake and I'm actively working my recovery. Can anyone offer me advice on where I could find a job?? I'm trying very hard to not get discouraged.... Some days are easier than others. HELP!!!:hdvwl::hdvwl:

I feel your pain. I got a lot of "We love your resume! You have a lot of great experience for only 5 years....but we don't have enough supervision for peer nurses" blah blah. Some of us are blessed and get a good job at a hospital or LTC facility. The others (myself included) really have to think and apply "outside the box". I knew someone who got a Medical Records Director position. It is an RN position. Another got a home health to let her do the chart audits and triage (because peer can't travel home to home unsupervised). I convinced the place I am medical assisting to invent a part time RN position for me. Since they need intermittent RN work from time to time and have to hire a temp for a few hours each time they need it. I had been looking for 7 months before that! Hang in there. You may end up finding a whole new avenue of nursing you never thought of. Good Luck!
