Wanting to relocate to Maui!

Hi everyone!

My husband and I fell in love with Maui and would like to move there!

I have my BSN, RN with 3 years of Medical-Telemetry experience and 2 years of LPN experience prior to that in a subacute and long-term care setting. My questions are mainly in regards to Maui Memorial. Is it hard to get hired there? I would love to continue working in the acute care setting.

Also, my husband is currently a paramedic but plans to start the bridge from paramedic to RN program next year. If we were to both relocate after he obtains his RN license, will it be hard for him to get a job at Maui Memorial as a new RN graduate? Do they typically hire new grads? He has almost 8 years of experience as a Paramedic so he has a lot of experience working in the field so he's not entirely new to the health care system! :)

Also, we loved Lahaina. This is where we would love to live. I see that it is a 30 minute drive to the hospital. Has anyone traveled from Lahaina to work at Maui Memorial? Any tips or suggestions? Our ideal situation is to rent a nice apartment located near a beach :)

Any information will be SO greatly appreciated!! Mahalo! :)

The short answer is NO! I live in lahaina currently and have my bsn and cannot get a job anywhere. I have even applied to medical assistant jobs just to do something and cannot get hired! Seriously it's not a good time to come here for nurses. I would love to save someone the pain I have gone thru please research it's not a wise move

Wow, ok thank you so much for being honest! We wouldn't move until we were sure at least one of us got hired. Have you applied to Maui Memorial? There are several openings within the hospital! And do you have any nursing experience because that could make a difference.
