UNG Fall 2013

U.S.A. Georgia

I know it is still early, but thought it would be nice to start a new thread for the Fall 2013 ASN students on here. Which campus you will be attending and where you are commuting from? I will be at the Gainesville campus and live in Jasper.

The lab kit includes all the supplies you will need for check offs (like foley catheter, syringes, iv kit, etc) you will receive two of certain things so you can practice in class and at home with one and then save one for check offs.

Ok. Thanks! I think that is all the questions I have so far for now. Lol

I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions!

No problem! Kmp5 was very helpful to me when I got started, and it feels like it was just yesterday.

The book bundle should come with everything you need book wise. I didn't buy the bundle - I just bought my stuff online beforehand because I couldn't afford the expense all at one time.

Lab days: You will be given your lab day and time at orientation.

They will assign you to Wednesday or Friday and your time will be either 8-12 or 12-4.

It will stay on that day the whole semester.

You will be off the other day.

So if your lab is on Wednesday you will be off on Friday. However, occasionally they will assign something on your day off - but not often no more than two times

Now when clinicals start - in October your clinical day will stay the same but the time will change.

You will probably show up around 6-6:30am and it will end by 3:30 (although I think it was 2:30 or 3:00).

Thank you for the information! :) So maybe it's safe to say it'd be wise to take core classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays? A good teacher teaches World History on MW and MWF, but that might not be a good one to sign up for

That sounds so exciting!

Did any of you have to work during nursing school? I'm trying to figure out what to expect as far as study time needed, etc. I'm going to probably work 2-3 days a week, but even that doesn't guarantee enough money to pay bills, so I might have to take on more days than that. Hoping for the best. Very excited to start the program! :D

I guess it didn't post...... but the top sizes where similar to my street wear. I went down a size in the pants (I got the drawstring pair) bc I heard they run big. Hope this helps! You should have plenty if time to send them back if they don't fit. I heard we won't be doing clinicals till second half of the first semester anyways.

How come you got the unisex drawstring pants rather than the women's pants? I'm just trying to decide which ones to get! Do both types run big?

I'm not big on elastic waist pants. I like drawstring pants better. I think the woman sizes do run big. When I chose the drawstring pants I went by waist size which put me in a S

Oh, gotcha! :) Thank you! I am not sure what my opinion is as far as pants with elastic waists are concerned, but I guess we will see! :)

Where are some of the clinical sites we may be going to? Is it random assignment or do students have input? Thanks in advance.

Yah!! I got mine within a week's time! Ordered it on June 18 & received it on the 25th. Although I accidentally ordered the wrong size in the top. I sent it back so we will see how long it take to get it back.

Hey! I have an idea! Not sure if all of you have Facebook or if you are like me and considered deleting yours during nursing school (haha), but an idea came to mind that has been ever so helpful to me in other areas, like work: A private Facebook group! Let me know if any of you are interested! If not, then I may just go through with deleting my Facebook when school starts as I won't have much other use for it during that time. Hahaha :)
