PreNursing Students at GSU

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Hello Everyone,

I am a pre nursing student. Currently taking some pre reqs at GPC and I plan to transfer in the spring to GSU as a transfer student. I was hoping to find a few people who are currently in the same boat as me for support and guidance. I hope I can apply to the nursing program by Fall 2015 OR Sping 2016. Im just trying to get all my ducks in a row.

In a different area but would love to know too. Starting one semester of pre reqs this fall and nursing classes in the spring. As far as encouragement goes, Pinterest has been my go to. Lots of great motivation to inspire you:) Best of luck!

I am also planning to go to GSU for the nursing program. I recently moved here in Georgia from Florida. I am currently enrolled in Georgia Gwinnett College hoping to obtain my BSN there but I just found out that GSU's curriculum would allow me to apply for the program without taking more classes. If I would continue here in Georgia Gwinnett, with their curriculum I would still need about 24 credit units to go into the program. I hope I would be able to have a smooth transfer (again). And like you I am hoping to apply for Fall 2015 or Spring 2016.

Im actually from Florida too! Miami to be exact. I actually live in Gwinnett. Have you heard anything good things about the nursing program at Georgia Gwinnett??? I heard its pretty new. If you dont mind me asking, what classes do you have left to take??

I'm from Ft. Lauderdale.

If I go through with Georgia Gwinnett all that I have to take are the humanities and those history classes and stuff. But with GSU I'm all set after the last chemistry course I am currently in. I'm planning on listening to how the students in the program respond to it once the semester starts, since the first batch starts this Fall so I'm not so sure what to expect. But I have a negative impression of the school when we had the orientation so I'm weighing my options and I am hoping to get into GSU.

Ok that sounds like a plan. I think I would definently want to get in GSU as well but I heard its really really competitive as most nursing programs are. And I would need a few more classes to apply to them on top of what I have left, I wouldnt be able to apply to them til January 2016. I am weighin my options as well and I do plan to apply to more than one school.

Could you elaborate on what was negative about the school?.....just curious because I just applied for spring2015 and I'm really nervous about getting in.

Hi I'm hoping to transfer into the program fall 2016 and was wondering if any of you chose the biology track and which biology classes are you taking?

I have a biology degree but I didn't get it from GGC.....so I don't think I can be much of any help...sorry

I'm starting prereqs at GPC this spring. planning to transfer to UNG's BSN program once I get most of my prereqs done.

What classes are you all currently taking? Might be interested in buying some used books.

GSU is really competitive. My advisor pulled up their stats from the previously accepted class. GPAs of 3.5 to 3.6 usually had TEAS scores of 90s. People with GPAs of 3.7 to 4.3 usually could get away with some lower TEAS scores. A GPA of 3.8 and a TEAS score of 85 is considered normal.

UNG is kinda wierd. You should look at their nursing info first. Their prereqs and their cores are combined into one.
