Tips for 2017 NLN Pax Exam

Has anyone recently took the NLN PAX exam? I took it last week, and my dreams were crushed. I needed a 55% overall for verbal and a composition of 100. I scored 50% for verbal and 107 for composition, therefore didn't make it in to petition because I was off from verbal. Any tips or tricks to help me pass this verbal section? I only can take it one more time and I really love this school and don't want to move. I think the timing of 40minutes for 60 questions is what pressured me. Also, any tips for science section would be great too. I did reach the composition score, but I feel like its a little low.

So in a few months I have to re take the whole test since it is all or nothing

Thank you so much for whoever helps me. I am so thankful for any help.

Hi CedarGirl10,

My best advice for you (if you haven't done so already) is to buy or rent the Review Guide for RN Pre Entrance Exam 3rd Edition. For the science section, pay close attention to the physics portion. In my opinion, there were more physics problems than chemistry and even anatomy. I found the verbal portion to be the most difficult because if you're not reading the New York Times or other higher level journal articles on a regular basis, a lot of the vocabulary is not seen or used in daily conversation. When doing the practice exams, time yourself and look up words you don't know It's your best bet at completing the exams and I definitely saw a reading passage and a few vocab words on the exam from the review book, so it's a good resource to use while studying. Good luck.
