Personal Statement Help

Hi everyone,

I am new to allnurses but I use the website all the time for information and just to read stories sometimes. I am in the midst of applying to second entry nursing schools in Ontario (I have a Health Sciences degree already) and I am looking for some help with my personal statement for University of Toronto. The first question is: [COLOR=#000000]Whatskills, strengths, and interests do you have that make you a goodcandidate for our Bachelor of Science in Nursing program? The following is my response so far, but I am wondering if it is good to fit as many many skills and strengths as possible into the short 250-word limit (which I believe I did) or if I should just focus on a few and explain why those select few would be beneficial. I want to explain myself thoroughly but I also want to cover all of the bases. Any help is much appreciated!

[/COLOR][COLOR=#000000]Thethought of becoming a part of the dynamic, rewarding profession ofnursing excites me, and I firmly believe that my past experienceshave provided me with the skills and strengths to pursue my goal. Allmy life I have participated in competitive sports, which have taughtme the importance of collaboration and commitment, and instilled inme a desire to constantly learn and improve myself. As I grew older,my time management and organizational skills developed as I took onvarious leadership roles in my community. It is through thesevolunteer and work experiences that I realized my interest in socialjustice, and strong desire to use my creativity and complex problemsolving skills to better the lives of others. Throughout myundergraduate studies, I developed a keen ability to adopt amultidisciplinary approach to problems and became interested in thesocial, economic and psychological facets of health, not merely thephysical. This collaborative approach to health and well-being,combined with my compassionate nature, provide a sense of emotionalintelligence that I believe would be beneficial in this program andprofession. It would be nice to say that I knew nursing was thecareer for me since I was a little girl, but this is not the case.However, as I take my first steps towards this fulfilling career, Irealize that the sum of my skills, strengths and interests developedthroughout my life will allow me to excel in the Bachelor of Sciencein Nursing program, and in my future endeavours in the field.
